    Abstract: A plate type heat exchanger includes a plurality of laminated plates 11 each having a resin-covered gasket 15 mounted in a gasket groove 13 therein surrounding a heat transfer surface 12. The resin-covered gasket includes a core 15a of elastic material whose liquid-contacted side surface is covered with a corrosion-resistant resin cover 15b. In this plate type heat exchanger, the liquid-noncontacted side of the core 15a is integrally formed with a fixing element 16, while the outer peripheral surface of the plate 11 is formed with a recess 14 adapted to fit on the fixing element 16. Thus, the resin-covered gasket 15 can be mounted in the gasket groove 13 without using any adhesive agent.

When heating and sterilizing the solid matter independently, the solid matter is weight and dispensed in each retainer (c) by the portion of one pack each, and sterilized, and is transferred, after being sterilized, from the retainer (d) into a bag (c) or container, and sealed. Sterilization is executed by rotating the retainer (d) and inducing an agitating action on the inside solid matter.

    Abstract: A plurality of stacked trays 2 are accommodated within a rotary housing 3 rotatably supported in a sterilization vessel 1 (FIG. 7a). A medium support port 42a is sealingly engaged with an inlet port 25. Then, a flow of hot water is supplied to the inlet port 25. Thus, a spray hot water is ejected from spray nozzle 23 for heat sterilizing products on the trays 2. Thereafter, a spray of cooling water is ejected from the spray nozzle 23 for cooling the products. The rotary housing 3 is rotated to a position in which inclination of the trays 2 exceeds 90 degrees. Then, the rotary housing 3 is counter-rotated to a position in which the trays 2 are inclined at a vertical orientation (FIG. 7b). A hot gas supply port 37a is sealingly engaged with the inlet port 25 so as to supply a flow of hot air into the inlet port 25, whereby the products may be dried.

A plurality of stacked pan-like trays (10) are received in a closable processing tank (1) and heated cooking oil is rapidly fed into the trays (10) through the side wall thereof by oil feed nozzles (41) so that the oil flows on the bottoms of the trays (10) at a given flow rate, the excess oil being allowed to overflow from the side opposite to the oil feed side to flow downwardly of the trays (10). The stacked trays (10) are individually fed with oil by the oil feed nozzles (41) so that none of the oil flowing from upper trays enters lower trays. The oil feed nozzles (41) are slidable back and forth relative to the trays (10), and the processing tank (1) is pressurized or evacuated according to the cooking conditions for articles of food a.

    Abstract: A thin film flow-down type concentrating apparatus for concentrating a heat susceptible raw liquid with heated steam to high concentration without spoiling the flavor or deteriorating the quality by alternately laminating raw liquid plates and steam plates 20, in which the width of the raw liquid heating passage 18 is gradually narrowed from the raw liquid inlet to the concentrate outlet. As a result, if the volume of the raw liquid decreases due to evaporation and separation of the moisture in the raw liquid, scorching is prevented. Besides, by the steam generated from the raw liquid, in order to prevent increase of the flow velocity of the concentrate going toward the concentrate exit, the plate intervals of the raw liquid heating passage is gradually widened from the raw liquid inlet toward the concentrate outlet.

    Abstract: This invention relates to a spray type retort sterilizer which preforms various types of high-pressure sterilization. Sterilization is achieved through the use of non-atomized hot water droplets. The sterilized comprises a retort that is capable of receiving multiple trays of materials, a pressurized air intake system for introducing pressurized air into the retort, an exhaust system and multiple spray units capable of spraying liquid such that at least one spray unit is disposed adjacent to each tray of material. The invention is further defined to include a heat exchanger and a pump for removing the liquid from the retort, passing it through the heat exchanger and delivering the liquid to the spray units. The invention is further defined to include spray units that are rotatable.

    Abstract: An evaporating apparatus includes an evaporator (E) for converting a liquid into vapor and a preheater (2) for heating the liquid before it is fed to the evaporator (E). A pump (6) for feeding the liquid to the preheater (2) and another pump (8) for pressurizing the liquid passing from the preheater (2) to the evaporator (E) are provided, where the former maintains the liquid at a saturation pressure with respect to a temperature slightly higher than a saturation temperature (t.sub.o) at the preheater outlet, and the latter serves to raise the liquid pressure to a saturation pressure with respect to a desired evaporation temperature (t.sub.2). Rate of flow of a heating medium for the preheater (2) is controlled so that its temperature (t.sub.w3) is slightly higher than a liquid preheater outlet temperature (t.sub.ex). Thus, in the preheater (2), the liquid temperature (t.sub.ex) is maintained lower than saturation temperature (t.sub.o), ensuring a greater amount of heat transfer by subcool boiling.

The plate elements are clamped face to face through surrounding sealing surrounding sealing strips respectively to form between the plates interspaces through which the media flow. Every second interspace among the interspaces is closed with respect to the space within the container and communicates with said inlet and outlet for said one medium.
