Abstract: In a transmission apparatus in a MIMO-OFDM communication system employing a cyclic diversity, a cyclic delay controller sets plural delay magnitudes different for respective antennas, in cyclic delayers for each predetermined timing. The cyclic delayers receive symbols subjected to orthogonal frequency division multiplexing, for the respective ones of plural allotted antennas. Besides, the cyclic delayers bestow cyclic delays on the individual symbols of the respective antennas in accordance with plural set delay magnitudes. The symbols cyclically delayed are outputted from the antennas. As the delay magnitudes, a first delay magnitude at a first transmission timing and a second delay magnitude at a second transmission timing are different for one antenna, and the delay magnitudes differ in the respective antennas for one transmission timing. Thus, in a MIMO-OFDM transmission scheme, a frequency diversity and a time diversity are enhanced to heighten a retransmission efficiency in a data retransmission mode.

  • Patent number: 7626934
Abstract: A packet transfer apparatus has a controller for controlling transmission of a PADO packet on the basis of the information that is previously set in the packet transfer apparatus in order that the PADO packet can be transmitted back to the terminals or a PADI can be discarded when the PADI packet sent from the terminals to the packet transfer apparatus does not have any Service-Name specified. In addition, another controller is used. This controller is provided so that, when a Service-Name that indicates the type of an offered communication service is specified in the PADI packet, it can judge whether the Service-Name is previously registered in a memory and decide to transmit the PADO packet to the terminal if the Service-Name is previously registered, but to discard the PADI packet if the Service-Name is not registered.

  • Patent number: 7627298
Abstract: A terminal 211 measures pilot signals transmitted in directional (beam) patterns from an adjacent cell and an own cell, and estimates reception qualities with the presence (high)/absence (low) of the interference from the adjacent cell. The terminal 211 requests data rate request values (DRC1, DRC2) corresponding to the reception qualities with the presence/absence of the interference to the base station 201. The base station 201 shares beam direction schedule with an adjacent cell base station, and confirms the presence/absence of interference to the terminal 211 for each slot. In accordance with the presence/absence of the interference, the base station 201 selects a suitable one of the two values of the data rates requested from the terminal 211, and modulates the data and transmits it.

  • Patent number: 7620074
Abstract: A communication system is provided which allows synchronous devices in different synchronous communication networks to have synchronous communications with one another via an asynchronous communication network. In the communication system of the present invention, a master communication device generates a master clock based on a reference clock which is provided by a clock supplier. The master communication device sends a synchronization information frame, which contains information about the generated master clock, to plural slave communication devices via the asynchronous communication network. The slave communication devices each reproduce the master clock from the received synchronization information frame.

  • Patent number: 7616318
Abstract: An electric field waveform of an optical signal is precisely measured with high time resolution. Particularly, determination of inter-symbol interference has been difficult. Output light from the laser source is divided into first and second portions. The first portion is modulated by an optical modulator. The second portion is delayed by a delay line for the same quantity of delay as that of the first portion. The first and second portions are fed to a phase diversity circuit to configure a homodyne interferometer. An optical input sampling oscilloscope stabilizes a variable optical phase shifter to set an optical phase at a particular point of time to a fixed value using a pattern sync signal as a reference. An optical input sampling oscilloscope repeatedly averages optical waveforms and a CPU conducts three-dimensional display of the optical electric field waveform from which noise has been removed.

  • Publication number: 20090257758
Abstract: In an optical receiving apparatus for receiving an optical DQPSK signal, a phase difference between both arms of an optical interferometer is controlled to an optimum value. The optical DQPSK signal is incident on two optical interferometers in each which a delay-time difference between two arms is set to be equal to a 1-symbol time of the optical DQPSK signal and which are orthogonal to each other. The optical receiving apparatus converts the optical DQPSK signal into an intensity signal and receives it. A differential amplifier obtains a difference signal between outputs of a pre-amplifier and a discriminator connected thereto. The difference signal includes, as an amplitude, a phase shift in a phase section. A control circuit adjusts the phase of the phase section in the optical interferometers to reduce this difference signal, and changes the phase difference between the two arms to a desired phase difference.

Abstract: A base station apparatus is provided for adaptively controlling a maximal accommodation channel number per unit area (for example, the coverage area of a cell or sector) in accordance with a traffic quantity without relying upon detachment of a mobile base station and installation of a repeater. Upon inputting of a plurality of baseband signals of a user channel-multiplexed channel group, linear coupling is performed by a weight which is different per area that outputs it, thereby enabling control of the channel density. • Publication number: 20090245210
Abstract: In CDMA communications, a base station detects a difference between a reference phase of a spreading code and a phase of a received signal of each terminal station, and feeds a phase jump signal PJ-i representative of the phase difference back to each terminal station. After timing acquisition, the reception operation is performed using the reference phase, and a shift amount between the phase of a received signal and the reference phase is fed back to each terminal station as phase synchronization control information PC-i. Each terminal station coarsely adjusts the phase of the spreading code in accordance with the phase jump signal PJ-i, and thereafter finely adjusts the phase of its transmitting signal in accordance with the phase synchronization control information PC-i. It is therefore possible to synchronize the phases of the signals transmitted from terminal stations and received at the base station. Accordingly, an orthogonal code is used for spreading on the reverse links.
