Abstract: An apparatus for judging the order and time of arrival of moving objects such as racers at a judgement criterion line such as a goal line in a race, using color image pickup. A camera which includes a color linear image sensor which in turn includes G, B and R or complementary color filters and a one-dimensional array of a plurality of opto-electric conversion elements picks up the images of the moving objects which pass the judgement criterion line to produce Y, Pb, Pr signals or G, B, R color signals, records those signals successively into a memory of an image processor, selects a desired image through a controller, reads the memory, and displays the obtained data on a color video monitor to accurately discriminate the respective racers.
Abstract: In a complex modulation/demodulation method and system, the data frequency f.sub.C1 of data signals I and Q inputted to a constellation mapping circuit is converted by a digital interpolation circuit into a sampling frequency f.sub.C2 equal to f.sub.S /N, where f.sub.S is an operation sampling frequency and N is selected such that the signal maximum frequency of the data signals I and Q becomes lower than f.sub.C2 /2. The interpolated data signals I and Q are respectively inputted to real and imaginary input terminals of a complex coefficient band pass filter to extract a real signal output. An output signal of the complex coefficient band pass filter is converted by a DA converter into an analog signal from which desired frequency components are extracted by an analog band pass filter, thereby performing a quadrature modulation.

Abstract: A trigger signal generated by a start pistol is inputted to a timekeeping device. The trigger signal is synchronized with reference clock pulses and then transmitted to competitors as sound and light start signals. In addition, counting in a timekeeping counter is started at the timing of this signal.
Abstract: A large-size spherical concave mirror, comprises a plurality of small-size concave mirrors joined together to constitute the large-size spherical concave mirror. Each of the small-size concave mirrors includes a concave mirror surface and at least three joining surfaces extending from the concave mirror surface, the small-size concave mirrors adjacent to each other being joined together through the joining surfaces, each of the joining surfaces and a spherical center of the large-size spherical concave mirror being disposed on a respective plane so that the joining surfaces do not face to the spherical center of the large-size spherical concave mirror.
Abstract: A squelch circuit for a radio transmitter/receiver includes an amplifier, a digitally-controlled electronic volume control, a volume adjusting variable resistor, and a volume controller. The amplifier amplifies a received audio signal input and provides the received audio signal to a loudspeaker. The digitally-controlled electronic volume control changes the output level of the amplifier. The volume adjusting variable resistor outputs data representing a volume value. The volume controller constantly detects changes in volume value data output from the variable resistor, and controls an attenuation amount of the digitally-controlled electronic volume control in accordance with the volume value represented by the variable resistor. While in a "mute" state, this volume control continues until a predetermined time has elapsed since the detection of the change in volume value data.
Abstract: A voice transmission method and apparatus in a duplex radio system are disclosed in which a voice signal to be transmitted in a constant period of time is subjected to 1/N time compression, N being a numeral not smaller than 2.0. The time-compressed voice signal is supplied to a transmitter as a modulating signal and a transmitting operation is performed by the transmitter in synchronism with a period of time when the modulating signal is inputted to the transmitter. A receiving operation of receiving a time-compressed and modulated signal transmitted from the transmitter to demodulate it is performed by a receiver in a period of time other than the period of time when the transmitting operation is performed. A demodulated signal is subjected to N-ple time expansion to obtain a reproduced receive voice signal, and both the transmitting operation and the receiving operation are repeated at the constant period of time.

Abstract: In an automatic color-balance setup system for a color TV camera, a chart board having a white pattern, a black pattern and a gray pattern is imaged by the color TV camera for the purpose of color balance adjustment. The image signal data appearing at the output of the TV camera are analyzed to compute and determine the white level, the black level and the gray level, and the locations of the image signal data corresponding to the individual levels, measurement regions for the white level, the black level and the gray level are automatically determined color balance automatic setup.
Abstract: An image pickup apparatus for a television and a depth-of-field control apparatus used in the same. Image signals corresponding to a plurality of picture images different in focal point or length position are obtained by a mechanism for changing a focal point or length position to produce a new image signal by composing these image signals through a composition circuit, and motion information of an object is obtained by a circuit for detecting a moving portion in the object to control the image composition by the motion information. The focal point or length position is moved in synchronism with an integer multiple of a vertical scanning period of the television. The image signals corresponding to the plurality of picture images different in focal point or length position are obtained within one vertical scanning period determined by the system of the television. The amount of movement of the focal point or length position is controlled in conjunction with a value of a lens aperture of the camera lens.
Abstract: Method and apparatus for detecting a length of a cable connecting information equipments are disclosed. A reference signal which is a repetitively occurring signal is transmitted through a cable. A phase difference between the reference signal transmitted through the cable and the reference signal directly transmitted without routing the cable is detected, and a signal representing the cable length is produced based on the detected phase difference.
Abstract: An automatic adjustment radio apparatus includes a transfer destination selecting unit and a data transfer unit. The transfer destination selecting unit selects a transfer destination of data set by a channel switch. The data transfer unit transfers the data set by the channel switch to a specific electronic volume and a specific address of a non-volatile memory selected by the transfer destination selecting unit. The data set by the channel switch is used as data to be set in the electronic volume and to be stored in the non-volatile memory upon adjustment.
Abstract: In a synchronizing circuit, such as a DPLL (Digital Phase-Locked Loop), adapted to be synchronized in accordance with clock signals of an external clock, a programmable timer in the circuit is forcedly reset in synchronism with the edge of an external clock signal pulse at the time of the clock signal's initial state in accordance with a clock detection circuit. Subsequently, baud timing of the external clock signals is detected by making use of internal clock signals produced by the circuit. Synchronism is thus established and maintained between the circuit and the external device.
