  • Patent number: 8242698
Abstract: The present invention overcomes image defects such as the brightness inclination or smears by reducing the line resistance of a power source bus line which supplies electricity to organic EL elements. A plurality of pixels which are arranged in a matrix array is connected to power source lines, and the plurality of power source lines are connected to a power source bus line. Both ends of the power source bus line are connected to a power source part via a FPC. By supplying electricity to both ends of the power source bus line from the power source part, the line resistance of the power source bus line can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 8237353
Abstract: In a top emission type organic EL display device, brightness gradient in a screen is reduced while keeping a screen brightness. A reflection film is formed under a lower electrode and the light from an organic EL layer is emitted through an upper electrode. Light absorption of the upper electrode is larger on the side of a shorter wavelength. When a film thickness of the upper electrode is enlarged in order to reduce the brightness gradient in a screen, the film thicknesses of the upper electrodes for a red pixel and a green pixel are enlarged without enlarging the film thickness of the upper electrode for a blue pixel. This makes it possible to reduce the brightness gradient as well as to suppress the light absorption of the upper electrode.

  • Patent number: 8233119
Abstract: There is provided a liquid crystal display device having color filters on a side of a TFT substrate, in which an orientation film is formed by inkjet printing. The formation of an orientation film by inkjet printing is more advantageous than the conventional flexographic printing in terms of the production cost. It is necessary, however, to reduce the viscosity of the orientation film to be applied by inkjet printing. For this reason, first and second orientation film stoppers are formed between a display area and a sealing portion in a TFT substrate, to prevent the orientation film from flowing to an end of the TFT substrate. The orientation film stoppers are formed by the overlapping of color filters. A profile of the orientation film is defined by the first orientation film stopper. The second orientation film stopper is formed to ensure that the orientation film does not flow to the outside.
