  • Patent number: 4799416
Abstract: A cutting apparatus comprising a swinging cutter unit which is pivotally coupled through a first shaft to a stationary working table so as to be swingable about the first shaft between its raised resting position and its lowered cutting position. The swinging cutter unit includes a motor-driven circular saw-blade fixedly mounted on a second shaft coupled to a drive motor, a housing for partially encasing an upper side portion of the circular saw-blade and supporting the second shaft so that the circular saw-blade is rotatable about the second shaft in response to operation of the drive motor, and a blade guard supported by the housing to be rotatable about the second shaft to expose and cover the saw-blade. The blade guard is biased by means of a spring so as to cover the saw-blade and has an engaging device at a portion of the outer surface thereof.

  • Patent number: 4773581
Abstract: A housing partially defines a combustion chamber. A movable piston partially defines the combustion chamber. An air and fuel mixture is generated in the combustion chamber. The air and fuel mixture is ignited in the combustion chamber. An obstacle member is fixedly disposed in the combustion chamber. The obstacle member serves to generate turbulence in an unburned portion of the air and fuel mixture after the air and fuel mixture is ignited. Fuel may be injected into at least two points in the combustion chamber.

  • Patent number: 4675999
Abstract: A portable power tool such as a portable circular saw is provided with a sawdust collection system based on the generation of an air flow resulting from rotation of a rotary cutting blade, with this air flow being guided to transport sawdust resulting from cutting operations along a guide path through a first discharge aperture into a dust box in which the sawdust is precipitated, with a low-velocity air flow then passing out of the dust box through a second discharge aperture to be recirculated through the flow path. Extremely effective dust collection is attained with a simple configuration, while the dust box can be positioned such that the weight of accumulated sawdust therein does not significantly affect the balance or ease of operation of the portable power tool.

  • Patent number: 4670002
Abstract: A rotor for separation and collection of specimen particles carried by a liquid buffer by continuous centrifugal elutriation, whereby the interior of the rotor itself is employed as a separation chamber. This separation chamber is shaped such that the circumferential cross-sectional area thereof continuously increases from the outer to the inner periphery in a specific manner, so that centrifugal elutriation is accomplished by pumping the liquid buffer from positions at the outer periphery of the separation chamber towards the inner periphery. A transparent cover can be employed to cover the separation chamber, so that the separated material becomes directly visible as a peripheral ring, without the need to employ a stroboflash lamp, and in addition it is possible to separate large amounts of material by a single centrifuging operation.

  • Patent number: 4669190
Abstract: A portable motor-driven cutter for cutting off a sheet material includes an eccentric shaft rotatably supported by a gear case and a gear cover, an L-shaped driver arm having an upper end rotatably fitted over an eccentric portion of the eccentric shaft, a cutting blade detachably mounted on the lower end of the driver arm, and a scribing blade detachably mounted on a base on which the gear case is mounted. When the eccentric shaft is rotated by a motor, the cutting blade is moved in an eccentric pattern to cut off a sheet material along a straight line scribed by the scribing blade. The cutting blade and the scribing blade are produced from a single break-off disposable cutter blade.

  • Patent number: 4549681
Abstract: A power-driven hand-held fastener driving machine includes a housing including a reciprocally movable blade, a magazine for carrying a strip of fasteners such as staples, and a guide assembly composed of first and second guides defining a drive track therebetween. A safety device is actuatable in response to being pressed against a workpiece for depressing a switch means to move the blade for driving fasteners one at a time into the workpiece. The safety device is composed of first and second separate members, the first member being engageable with the switch means and the second member being angularly movable into and out of engagement with the first member and engageable with the workpiece. When the second member is out of engagement with the first member, the first member will not actuate the switch means to prevent accidental driving of the blade.
