Abstract: In a desk-top cutting machine, a magnet 24 and a magnetic pickup 22 are attached to a motor shaft 12. A control circuit 28 is provided for controlling a TRIAC 23 in response to the signal from the detection means. Further, a dynamic braking coil 25 which serves as braking means for a motor 11 when power supply to the motor 11 is stopped is provided in the motor 11. The dynamic braking coil 25 stops within a time during which no slip is produced between the motor shaft 12 and endless belt 18 and between the cutting blade shaft 10 and endless belt 18. In this way, the rpm and torque of the motor are controlled from motor starting to cutting and motor stopping.

Abstract: A desk-top miter saw with a bevel function is improved through the use of a belt drive transmission between the saw shaft and the motor drive shaft. This allows the unit to be more compact while simultaneously offering a greater bevel tilt range of the saw. A centering detent mechanism is used to correctly locate the turntable for zero-angle (non bevel) cutting.

Abstract: A desk-top cutter with a saw blade inclining mechanism, including a turntable rotatably provided on an upper surface of a base, a vice disposed above the turntable for supporting a workpiece on the upper surface of the base, a holder supported inclinably relative to the upper surface of the turntable at the rear end thereof, a slide shaft slidable back and forth at an upper end of the holder substantially parallel to the upper surface of the base, a hinge provided at a forward end of the slide shaft, a motor and a saw blade, and a saw cover covering an upper half of the saw blade. The motor is rotatably support vertically at an upper end of the hinge. A safety cover provided in the saw cover and rotatable around a support provided at the rear portion of the saw cover guards the lower half of the saw blade. The safety cover includes a pair of lower cover members mounted so that end portions of the lower cover members can be rotated upwardly irrespective of the cover holder.
