  • Patent number: 7671534
Abstract: When a long illuminant module is constructed, debonding of a bonded interface or bending occurs due to a difference in a magnitude of thermal deformation between a lens material and a metal substrate. In an illuminant module including light emitting elements, a substrate on which the light emitting elements are mounted, a transparent encapsulating resin which encapsulates the light emitting elements, and a lens material having cavities formed therein, in which the respective light emitting elements and transparent encapsulating resin are stored, notches are formed in a surface of the lens material on the side of the substrate, and the notch surfaces of the notches and the surface of the substrate are bonded using a bonding material.

  • Patent number: 4694224
Abstract: A lighting apparatus for an electric discharge lamp includes a lighting ballast capacitor connected in series to an electric dicharge lamp for stabilizing a lighting current to the lamp; a preheating ballast capacitor connected in parallel to the lamp for supplying a preheating electric power to the lamp; electric power supply including an output transformer for supplying an electric power to the lighting ballast capacitor; a control electric power supply circuit for obtaining a control electric power through the lighting ballast capacitor and discharge lamp or the preheating ballast capacitor without adding a stepdown transformer or a resistive element for voltage drop; and an oscillator which receives the control electric power from the control power supply circuit and controls the electric power supply. With this lighting apparatus, the electric power loss is made small and the miniaturization of the apparatus can be realized.

  • Patent number: 4503359
Abstract: Disclosed is a discharge lamp lighting device which comprises a series closed-loop circuit including an AC power supply, a ballast having an inductance, and a discharge lamp, and a switch circuit in parallel to the discharge lamp. The switch circuit is turned on when the voltage across the discharge lamp is reduced to zero, and then turned off when the current flowing in the switch reaches a predetermined value. The switch circuit thus repeats its on-off operation every half cycle of the voltage across the discharge lamp. The electromagnetic energy is stored in the inductance of the ballast when the switch circuit is on, and the stored electromagnetic energy is superimposed on the source voltage and applied to the discharge lamp when the switch circuit is turned off, thus reigniting the discharge lamp every half cycle. This makes it possible to light directly a discharge lamp having a lamp voltage approximate to the source voltage.

  • Patent number: 4447763
Abstract: A discharge lamp lighting device comprises a serial connection of an inductive ballast and a discharge lamp connected across an A.C. power source, and a switching circuit connected substantially in parallel to the discharge lamp and operable to carry out two consecutive ON/OFF operations in the beginning of each half cycle of the A.C. power source while the discharge lamp is in its lit condition. The switching circuit preferably comprises a full-wave rectifier connected substantially in parallel to the discharge lamp, a switching element connected between the output terminals of the rectifier, and a control circuit for controlling the ON/OFF operation of the switching element.
