  • Patent number: 5906884
Abstract: A magnetic recording medium has a substrate made of a nonmetal nonmagnetic material whose coefficient of linear expansion lies within a range from 0.000013/deg to 0.0001/deg. A magnetic layer is formed on the substrate as a thin polycrystalline film or a thin amorphous film. The magnetic layer has Co as a main component, which exhibits a negative magnetostrictive constant so that its coercive force rises in the direction of compressive strain. The magnetic layer is subjected to an in-plane compressive strain from the substrate due to a difference between the coefficient of thermal expansion of the substrate and the magnetic layer so that high coercivity is obtained in the magnetic layer.

  • Patent number: 5907821
Abstract: For each word occurring in Japanese text, a set of words co-occurring with it and their co-occurrence frequencies are extracted, where two words are regarded as co-occurring with each other when they occur in the same sentence. Likewise, for each word occurring in an English text that corresponds to the Japanese text, a set of words co-occurring with it and their co-occurrence frequencies are extracted. A correlation is calculated between a Japanese word and an English word based upon the co-occurrent word set of the Japanese word and that of the English word, with the assistance of a Japanese-English bilingual dictionary of basic words. The correlation is defined as the ratio of the number of possible correspondences between the two co-occurrent word sets to the total of the co-occurrence frequencies in the two co-occurrent word sets. Pairs of words having a mutually maximum correlation are selected as candidate translation pairs of words, and displayed on a display device.

  • Patent number: 5906309
Abstract: A work having a number of solder bumps on a substrate is mounted on a work positioning mechanism, and scanned by an optical micro head to measure errors of a mount posture of the work. Each stage is controlled to correct the errors, and thereafter, the apex positions of the bumps are scanned and measured. The measurement results are collected by a personal computer, and the measurement results together with control data of each axis are sent to a main personal computer and displayed on its screen. An error of an apex position of each bump from a regression plane is calculated, and if the error is smaller than a reference value, the work is judged to be good.

  • Patent number: 5907676
Abstract: An information processing system continues communication without affecting the operation of an application when a communication line is disconnected due to a communication error. When the application sends a communication connection request to another system, an MS Manager portion connects the application via a communication line. An MS portion sends a control handle, instead of a communication line handle, to the application. When the application sends data, the MS portion changes the control handle appended to the data to the handle of the actual communication line. When data is received from another system, the MS portion changes the handle of the actual communication line to the control handle and passes the control handle to the application. When the communication line is disconnected due to an error, the MS Manager portion connects the application to the other system via another communication line. The MS portion re-sends data not yet received by the other system if there are any.

  • Patent number: 5907214
Abstract: A cathode ray tube display device including unnecessary radiating magnetic field reducer which improves the ability to reduce an unnecessary radiating magnetic field, especially, generated by a vertical deflection coil. A pair of coil is disposed in opposing relationship on the opposite sides of the ferrite core along an X-axis or in the horizontal direction of the deflection yoke so as to be in contact with an open side end of the ferrite core. Each coil has a shape curved with a predetermined radius of curvature conforming to the shape of the outer peripheral surface of the ferrite core. The ferrite core acts as a magnetic material for the coils which reduces the unnecessary radiating magnetic fields to increase the coil inductances to thereby produce a large extremely low frequency magnetic field (ELMF) reducing effect.

  • Patent number: 5904518
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a semiconductor memory device having nonvolatile memory cells of a single-element type. The method provides for the formation of a floating gate electrode insulatedly on a main surface of a semiconductor substrate and a control gate electrode on the floating gate via a second gate insulating film. Also by this method, an impurity, for example, arsenic, is introduced in self-alignment with the pair of opposing end sides of the control gate electrode to form both the first and second semiconductor regions but, however, a lower dose of arsenic is introduced in the formation of the second semiconductor region. In accordance with the scheme, the first semiconductor region is formed to have a junction depth greater than the junction depth associated with the second semiconductor region and both the first and second semiconductor regions have portions thereof extending under the floating gate electrode.
