    Abstract: A particle beam treatment apparatus and an irradiation nozzle apparatus achieve a beam with a small diameter by a beam scanning irradiation method, and ensure a space for installation of a beam transport chamber in the irradiation nozzle apparatus. An X-ray tube is located outside the scanning type irradiation nozzle apparatus that includes scanning magnets, while an X-ray tube is located in an irradiation nozzle apparatus in a conventional structure. An X-ray detector is located inside the irradiation nozzle apparatus. The thickness of the X-ray detector in the direction of a beam axis is smaller and the structure thereof is simpler than that of the X-ray tube. This makes it possible to ensure the space for installation of the beam transport chamber in the irradiation nozzle apparatus and to increase the length of the beam transport chamber that is included in the irradiation nozzle apparatus.

    Abstract: An optical signal of an optical transmission part is brought into a high-speed polarization scrambling state by a polarization scrambling part, and transmitted to en optical fiber transmission line as the optical signal from the optical transmitter. The optical signal inputted to the optical receiver is converted into an electric signal by a polarization dependent photoelectric detection part. The converted electric signal is inputted to a digital signal processing part having a polarization scrambling cancel part of canceling the polarization scrambling state by a digital signal processing operation. At the digital signal processing part, the polarization scrambling state of the electric signal is canceled, and a data signal is outputted.

In addition, when an update process for the data (LU) stored in the tape is performed, the host can be responded by only staging an update target page of the LU, and a prior disk staging process is performed for the remaining pages of the LU in the background. Accordingly, when the data is re-stored in the tape, immediately storing the data in the tape can be performed without performing a staging process.
