  • Patent number: 7944407
Abstract: A display apparatus, that can prevent thermal destruction and burning with a simple structure, has been disclosed. In the apparatus it is judged that there is possibility of a pattern, whose area with high brightness is small, being displayed frequently, when a state in which the total light emission pulse number remains large occurs with high frequency, and if such a state is detected, the total light emission pulse number (sustain frequency) is reduced to prevent the thermal destruction and burning.

  • Patent number: 7903050
Abstract: In a conventional image display apparatus, since display load ratios for respective lines are different, voltage drop amounts are also different and a difference in brightness occurs in spite of giving the same inputted luminance signal, so that image quality of display image is degraded. In the case where signals at the same luminance level are inputted and displayed, for a pixel on a display panel, an ON pattern of a subfield in one field is changed when a line load ratio of a line including the pixel is changed. That is, an image display apparatus using a display panel having a plurality of pixels is configured so as to include, for each of the plurality of pixels connected to one driving electrode, a load calculating means that calculates the load ratio and a luminance correcting means that calculates a drop amount in luminance level of an inputted video signal for correction.

  • Patent number: 7808453
Abstract: In a sustain operation in an ALIS PDP device, a combination in which a basic first waveform and a second waveform in which a discharge peak is separated are mixed is applied. In the combination, the probability that the second waveform occurs successively is sufficiently reduced to less than 20%, and the number of times of sustain discharges of various intensities is made equal in the lines to be driven. By this means, the 2L nonuniformity can be prevented, and the deterioration of Vsmin can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 7768188
Abstract: An optical filter is provided on the output side of light from plural kinds of cells that output light with colors different from one another. In the optical filter, the penetrable rate of at least a portion of the wavelength band of light output from the cell with the color having highest luminescent intensity is set lower than that of the wavelength band of other kinds of cells. Consequently, the reflectance rate of outer light incident to a display can be reduced. Particularly, in a room environment using artificial lighting, the reflectance rate of outer light can be reduced in the wavelength band of light with relatively high luminescent intensity. Resultingly, bright room contrast can be improved by suppressing the reflection of outer light. Since the penetrable rate of the color with the highest luminescent intensity is reduced, reduction in brightness of the display can be kept to a minimum.
