  • Patent number: 7120171
Abstract: In real time communication, long interruption of a media data signal caused by underflow or overflow of a buffer is reduced. A monitoring unit 35a monitors a state of the buffer 34 periodically. When the number of encoded data in the buffer 34 shows tendency of increasing from a standard data storage number, successively a predetermined number of times, then, it is judged that the buffer tends to overflow. And, the decoding unit 35 is made to skip at least one encoded data to be read and processed this time from the buffer 34. Further, when the number of encoded data in the buffer 34 shows tendency of decreasing from the mentioned standard data storage number, successively the predetermined number of times, then, it is judged that the buffer tends to underflow. And, the processing unit 35 is made to suspend operation during at least one period of the above-mentioned reproduction period.

  • Patent number: 7103036
Abstract: When a communication system is constructed by use of a plurality of data relay apparatuses of the present invention, it is possible to control an execution/non-execution of a compression/decompression for voice data so that the compression/decompression is not repeatedly executed regardless of a PBX. An ATM multiplexer sends out a transmission pattern to an apparatus adjacent to the ATM multiplexer via a PBX, and stops the compression/decompression of the voice data to relay the voice data transmissively, only when the ATM multiplexer receives the transmission pattern from the adjacent apparatus via the PBX. In other cases, the ATM multiplexer relays the voice data while executing the compression/decompression operation for the voice data.

  • Patent number: 7058060
Abstract: Arbitration for a bus mastership is performed in accordance with the priority degrees of data which are to be transferred on a bus, by a comparatively simple construction. In a case where interfaces 2, 3 simultaneously output to the bus 1 the priority degrees which correspond to non-ATM lines 6, 7 being the reception sources or transmission destinations of the data stored in ATM cells, and where the priority degrees outputted by the interface themselves are the highest, the interfaces transmit to the bus 1, bus mastership request signals which contain the addresses of the interfaces themselves. A bus control module 4 receives the bus mastership request signals on the bus 1, it determines that one of the interfaces to which the bus mastership is granted, and it outputs to the bus 1 a bus mastership grant signal which contains the address of the determined interface.

  • Patent number: 7035265
Abstract: Opportunities to transmit ATM cells of identical level onto an ATM line are equally afforded to respective terminal side lines. In a cell assembler/disassembler, data from the terminal side lines 1100 are turned into ATM cells, and the ATM cells are assigned priority levels. Then, the ATM cells are stored in internal buffers 111–116 respectively corresponding to the terminal side lines 1100. The priority controller 1210 selects the ATM cells of the highest priority levels from within the respective internal buffers, and further selects the ATM cell of the highest priority level as an ATM cell to-be-transmitted from among the selected ATM cells. In the presence of a plurality of such ATM cells of the highest priority level, the priority controller 1210 determines the ATM cell to-be-transmitted in accordance with the priority sequence of the internal buffers in which the ATM cells of the highest priority level are stored.

  • Patent number: 6970460
Abstract: A circuit size of a multiplexing apparatus is reduced. In terminal interface units 21a to 23a, data from a terminal is received by each of terminal-side line interface sub-unit 211, and then celluralized by a cell assembly/disassembly sub-unit 28a. The cell is transmitted directly to a priority control unit 242a. In the priority control unit 242a, the cell received from each of the terminal interface units 21a to 23a is stored in each of priority control buffers 243a, and then sent to an ATM network interface unit 24a in the order of priorities sequentially. The cell is synchronized with a line of an ATM network 1a by a network synchronizing sub-unit 241a, and transmitted to the line of the ATM network 1a. With this constitution, an internal bus is unnecessary.

  • Patent number: 6898178
Abstract: A technology is disclosed to enable VP/VC on an ATM network to be backed up by using an ISDN line without presetting any detailed information regarding a backup VP/VC to be set on the ISDN line. An ATM switch A30 is provided to establish the ISDN line connecting with an ATM multiplexer A20 when any failure occurs in an ATM transmission path contacting with the ATM multiplexer A20. Negotiation is carried out with ATM multiplexer A30 by using the established ISDN line so as to decide a channel characteristic of a backup VP/VC to be set on the ISDN line. Then, the ATM switch A30 and the ATM multiplexer A20 communicate with each other by using the backup VP/VC having the decided channel characteristic on the ISDN line.
