    Abstract: A wide angle, static, positional anticipatory object detection system includes a transducer device for transmitting a modulated carrier signal and receiving the modulated carrier signal reflected from an object, a detection device for detecting a plurality of Doppler shifted harmonic components from the reflected modulated carrier signal, a range determining device responsive to the amplitudes of at least two of the harmonic components being equal for determining the instantaneous range of the object and, a predetermined distance thereafter, to a predetermined difference between the amplitudes of at least two of the harmonic components.
