Abstract: A carrier platform sends a query requesting CNAM information associated with a call to a CNAM database. A caller reputation server intercepts the query from the carrier platform to the CNAM database. The caller reputation server determines reputation information for the call. The reputation information indicates the likelihood that the call is a nuisance call. The caller reputation server further generates a reputation message describing the reputation information and sends the reputation message to the carrier platform in response to the query. As a result, the carrier platform sends the reputation message to a called device.

Abstract: A caller verification server receives a verification request message from a calling party via a data network. The verification request is associated with a communication from the calling party to a called device placed via a telephone network. The telephone network is logically separate from the data network. Thus, the verification request message travelling over the data network is said to be “out-of-band” relative to the telephone network. Responsive to receipt of the verification request message, the caller verification server generates a verification message indicating that the associated communication is verified as being from the calling party. The caller verification server sends the verification message to the called device via the data network.

Abstract: Method for enabling unwanted caller notifications or unwanted message sender notifications for all communication devices and applications including those with restricted programmatic call and message log access. The method delivers and stores a database of unwanted caller/message sender identification information in the device default contacts list, which is made available to the device's default caller/message sender identification service and to applications installed on the device. In one embodiment the unwanted caller/message sender identification information database is delivered as a separate synchronized address book, which can include additional unwanted caller notification information, for example the number or type of complaints about a given phone number.

Abstract: A caller information server provides caller identification (ID) information to a mobile device. The server receives caller ID information from local address books stored on multiple mobile devices. The caller information server aggregates the received caller ID information to generate a pooled address book. The caller information server may determine whether names within the caller ID information are legitimate and store or filter the information accordingly. When a mobile device receives a call from a telephone number for which it lacks caller ID information in its local address book, the mobile device sends a request for the caller ID information for the telephone number, to the caller information server. The server identifies caller ID information associated with the telephone number in the pooled address book, and sends this information to the mobile device.
