  • Patent number: 5641296
Abstract: A carrier assembly connects a memory storage device with electrical equipment having a slide. The carrier assembly includes a carrier adapted for holding a memory storage device and a folding handle. The folding handle has two arms which normally extend from the carrier. Each arm has an end rotatably attached to the carrier. Each end has a cam member, a biasing member and a locking member. The handle normally stands in an upright position with respect to the carrier, but can rotate to a folded position. The cam member is attached to the end of each arm to urge against the slide to move the carrier with respect to the slide and electrically connect the memory storage device with the electrical equipment when the handle is in the folded position. The locking member attaches to each cam member and engages with the side of the carrier to lock the handle when the handle is in the folded position.

  • Patent number: 5518418
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a SCSI ID connector assembly 20 connectable with a carrier (24) which supports memory storage devices having ID ports. The SCSI ID connector assembly (20) has various connectors including a first terminal (50), a feed-through connector (52) and a second terminal (54). The feed-through connector (52) is compatible with one type of ID port and the second terminal (54) is compatible with another type of ID port. The first terminal (50) is divided into a ground plug (186) and a separate active plug (188). The active plug (188)is selectively rotatable about its axis to reverse bit sequences. Accordingly, the SCSI ID connector assembly is compatible with a variety of ID port types.

  • Patent number: 5507650
Abstract: Disclosed herein is an array of daisy chained slides for receiving carrier mounted electrical devices for connection with electrical equipment. The daisy chained array includes a bus cable having two ends and a data connector attached at each end. The bus cable is adapted for connection with the electrical equipment. The array also includes a plurality of slides, each slide having a slide data connector. Each data connector is attached to the cable between the ends in a daisy chained fashion. Each of the slides is adapted to receive a carrier compatible for sliding and mating connection with the slide. The carrier includes an electrical device, such as a hard or floppy disk. The carrier has a carrier data connector for mating with the slide data connector. The carrier data connector is attached to one end of a stub cable. The other end of the stub cable is attached to a device data connector for connection with the electrical device.

  • Patent number: 5471099
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a modular enclosure apparatus for personal computers and/or work stations having a plurality of removable and replaceable modules. These modules include a cooling module for cooling the enclosure; a memory storage device module having a plurality of mating slides and carriers for routine installation and removal of each memory storage device; and a power supply module for providing power to the enclosure. In a RAID embodiment, the modular enclosure apparatus includes a RAID controller module which is similarly removable and replaceable. Each of the modules may include a circuit interrupt assembly for disabling individual modules (by cutting off power to the desired module) and allowing that module or parts contained therein to be removed while the power is disabled only to the module desired and the remaining modules continue to be enabled.
