Abstract: A trolley includes a body and a side block coupled to the body via a pivot arm and a spring. An adjustment knob adjusts a position of the side block relative to the body. A first plurality of rollers are coupled to the body and roll along a first roller recess on a first side of a length of a cap channel. A second plurality of rollers are coupled to the side block and roll along a second roller recess on a second side of the length of the cap channel. A first welding torch bracket positions a welding torch at a first interface between the first side of the length of the cap channel and a first deck sheet as the trolley traverses the length of the cap channel.

Abstract: An internal floating roof for a storage tank includes a rim, a first plurality of girders, including a first girder, a second plurality of girders, including a second girder, a deck sheet, a first cap channel, a second cap channel, and a pontoon coupled to the first girder. The first plurality of girders extend in a first direction across the rim, wherein the first plurality of girders comprises a first girder. The second plurality of girders extend in a second direction, cross-wise to the first direction. The deck sheet is disposed on a first top surface of the first girder and a second top surface of the second girder. The first cap channel is coupled to a first top channel of the first girder. The first cap channel comprises a first foot configured to press a first edge of the deck sheet against the first top surface of the first girder. The first foot is welded to the deck sheet along a first length of the first cap channel.

Abstract: A batten bar is configured to secure first and second adjacent flat panels to a structural framework. The batten bar includes first and second inside legs, first and second outside legs, and a plurality of apertures disposed along the length of the batten bar. The first and second inside legs define a central channel. The first outside leg and the first inside leg define a first seal recess configured to receive and retain a first seal. The second outside leg and the second inside leg define a second seal recess configured to receive and retain a second seal. In an installed configuration, the first inside leg and the first outside leg are configured to contact the first flat panel along a first common plane, and the second inside leg and second outside leg contact the second panel along a second common plane.

Abstract: A method for forming a sealed floating roof for a storage tank is disclosed. A plurality of roof panels are positioned adjacent to one another such that respective depressions of adjacent roof panels disposed adjacent to one another form a walled trough at interconnections of the plurality of roof panels. A self-propelled automatic welder is positioned and guided within the walled trough to make a weld joint at the walled trough, and thus forming the sealed floating roof.
Abstract: A sealed floating roof for a storage tank, comprising a frame and roof panels, in which the frame provides a guide for directing an automatic welder along said structure to allow for automated welding of the roof panels to the frame, and a method of forming such a roof.
