Abstract: The invention describes a developing solvent for layers which are crosslinkable by photopolymerization and contain a binder based on an elastomeric polymer, a photopolymerizable monomer compatible therewith and a photoinitiator. The developing solvent comprises a phenol ether of the general formula I ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 denotes (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6)n-alkyl or iso-alkyl, cycloalkyl or (C.sub.6 -C.sub.12)-aryl andR.sup.2 denotes hydrogen, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.6)n-alkyl or iso-alkyl or --OR.sup.1, and a relatively high-boiling alcohol.Compared with solvents of the prior art, the developing solvent of the present invention is non-toxic, can quickly be removed from the layer and has a high capacity for layer components.

Abstract: In the preparation processes known hitherto for haloacrylic acids and deuterated derivatives thereof, it is necessary to use chemicals, some of which are very toxic or very expensive. However, fluoroacrylic acids are successively prepared from halogenated fluoropropionic acids and derivatives thereof by electrochemical elimination of halogen atoms. For this purpose, the acids or derivatives thereof are electrolyzed in a water-containing solution at a temperature from -10.degree. C. to the boiling point of the electrolysis liquid.

Abstract: A process for the preparation of substantially fluorinated alkyl bromides from the corresponding iodides is described. At least one anhydrous metal bromide, which can contain certain metals as the cation, is reacted at 80.degree. to 450.degree. Abstract: A biaxially stretch-oriented film, suitable for the process of transfer metallizing, which comprises a base layer coextruded with covering layers on either side thereof and comprising an inert admixture is disclosed. The three layers are formed of polyolefin and the base layer comprises an additive which migrates from the base layer into the covering layers. The base layer contains the inert admixture in the form of finely divided particles, which partially protrude from the base layer and are completely enveloped by the covering layers. At least one of the two outer surfaces of the covering layers displays, at least in partial areas, an increased roughness attributable to the particles protruding from the base layer.
Abstract: A process is provided for coating a substrate with a film which includes at least one vaporizable solvent component and at least one solid component using an electrostatic discharge. A coating solution which includes at least one vaporizable solvent component and at least one solid component is introduced into an atomizing zone and atomized to produce drops. The drops so formed are mixed with an air or gas stream to form an aerosol, subjected to an electrostatic discharge, and blown out of the atomizing zone into a vaporizing zone, where a large portion of the solvent component is vaporized so that the individual drop size of the aerosol is about 50 to 90 percent by volume smaller than the volume of the drop size of the aerosol. Subsequently the aerosol is sprayed onto a charged substrate in an application zone, and then dried so as to fuse the solid components and form a film on the surface of the substrate.
Abstract: Prepration of N,N'-dimethylperylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylic diimide (DMP) ##STR1## in high-hiding pigment form by reacting perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylic dianhydride with methylamine. The reaction is carried out at 40.degree. to 200.degree. C. and the excess methylamine is distilled off only after the perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylic dianhydride used has been fully converted to the methylammonium salts of the corresponding N,N'-dimethyldicarbamoylperylenedicarboxylic acids. The temperature is held at 140.degree. to 200.degree. C. after, or after and during the formation of the DMP. The resultant highly crystalline crude pigment in aqueous suspension which has a mean particle size D.sub.50% (mass distribution) of 0.15 to 0.4 .mu.m and a mean length-to-width ratio q950% (mass distribution of the pigment particles of 10:1 to 3:1, is grounded in aqueous suspension until the mean particle size is 0.1 to 0.2 .mu.m and the mean length-to-width ratio of the pigment particles is less than 5:1.
Abstract: Compounds of the formula I ##STR1## can be prepared by various process steps from 2-(4-methylphenyl)-2-hexafluoroisopropanol.Hexafluoroisopropyl-containing monomers are important starting compounds in the preparation of linear polycarboxamides and polycarboximides.
