Patents Assigned to Hoesch AG
  • Patent number: 5232072
Abstract: A heavy-duty open-center anti-friction bearing (1), especially for mounting on generator sheds in wind-powered electricity-generating plants. It comprises two races (2 and 3) with friction-reducing structures (4) rolling between them and with a brake that suppresses rotations on the part of the bearing. The brake consists of at least one braking surface (19) secured to one bearing ring (3) and of a brake lining (16) secured non-rotating to the other bearing ring (2) and forced against the braking surface by a pressure-application mechanism (21). The mechanism can be adjusted from the outside. The object is to free the bearing of normal forces deriving from the brake.

  • Patent number: 5226736
Abstract: A device for detecting and monitoring damage to races (3 and receiver 24) or adjacent areas on the rings (1 and 2) in antifriction bearings. The object of the present invention is a device that will not only precisely measure the dimensions of cracks and pits in the race or in the transition between the races and the ring but will also forward the results to the processing equipment with no perforations in the ring and without cables and plugs. One or more sensors (13 and 14) are positioned between the rolling components (5) inside the antifriction bearing, whereby the signals they generate are transmitted electromagnetically to a receiver antenna (23) outside the antifriction bearing.

  • Patent number: 5116146
Abstract: A cage for a large roller bearing that loosely surrounds and mechanically secures the rollers. It comprises, first, a strip (2) of metal with lateral and intermediate webs (4 & 5) that leave recesses (6) and, second, plastic windows (6) that fit into the associated recesses. The windows have collars (8) that rest against the surface of the strip. The object of the invention is to improve the cage to the extent that it can be securely positioned in the bearing system without slides. Each window (6) accordingly has a securing rim (10) on its collar (8) that overlaps the lateral web (4).

  • Patent number: 5040399
Abstract: A method of fabricating box section from steel with walls of non-uniform thickness along its periphery. A starting product in the form of round tubing with a wall that is uniformly thick along its circumference is manufactured and rolled into box section with walls of uniform thickness along its periphery. A temperature difference is generated between the flange midsections and the web midsections of the box section with walls of uniform thickness along its periphery such that the flange midsections are at least 600.degree. C. hotter than the web midsections, the flanges are edged and thickened peripendicular to the longitudinal axis of the box section, with the edge length being shortened, by rollers, and the box section is finally cooled with air and/or water subject to standardization conditions.

  • Patent number: 4953993
Abstract: A comb-caged thrust bearing in which a circular-shaped ring or circular-shaped segments are provided for an axial two-row roller race that carries rollers in a large centrally-open roller bearing. The ring or segments form a web with radially oppositely-lying comb stages for holding and guiding the rollers. These comb stages of the web enclose the rollers along three sides of the rollers. Two of those enclosed sides are along oppositely-lying axial lines on the periphery of the rollers. The third enclosed side corresponds to one end of the roller and along a diameter thereof. This diameter has ends connected to the oppositely-lying axial lines on the periphery of the rollers. The other end of the rollers is left free and is not enclosed by the comb stages.

  • Patent number: 4912297
Abstract: In a device for joining by means of laser radiation, in particular for welding edges, the laser beam travels essentially parallel to the plane of the joint gap and is directed essentially perpendicular to the joint line. To ensure that the energy of the laser radiation is absorbed almost entirely in the region of the joint, the laser radiation is polarized mainly parallel to the plane of the joint gap and/or the laser beam (20) is shaped or focused at right angles to the joint gap (12) in the form of a strip parallel to said gap.

  • Patent number: 4621181
Abstract: An improved method of manufacturing multilayer helical seam pipes from strips or bands lying loosely over each other to prevent porous welding seams due to heated air escaping from resultant gaps between the layers of strips, comprising feeding the strips to a deformation station at an angle of entry corresponding to the pipe diameter, arc welding seams of the band edges with several arc welding heads, and arc welding a seam to the inside contact points of the area containing the band seams with another welding head to connect the adjacent bands.

  • Patent number: 4505525
Abstract: The bearing with rolling contact consists of wire elements (2, 4) which serve as raceways for the rolling elements (1), and an inner bearing ring (3) and an outer bearing ring (5). An insert is fitted between at least one wire element (2) and its associated wire bed (6) in the bearing ring in question (3), and this insert is designed as a tubular pressure pad (7).
