  • Patent number: 5216792
Abstract: An arrangement for trimming short shavings from a seam inside a longitudinally welded pipe having a longitudinal axis, in which an inside shaving is scraped off continuously with a stationary blade by moving the pipe relative to the blade. The inside shaving is then cut up discontinuously with an actuated knife inside the pipe. The scraping procedure is carried out with scraping forces having a resultant force vector lying substantially in a plane through the longitudinal axis of the pipe and the seam. The scraping procedure is dependent on the speed of the moving pipe, whereas the cutting procedure is independent of the speed of the moving pipe.

  • Patent number: 5060773
Abstract: A single-action freewheel with an open diameter greater than 50 mm and with an inner and outer ring. The object is to provide an open central diameter of more than 500 mm while allowing high torques in a freewheel that can be made without consuming much material. The invention is charaterized by two or more rows (3 & 4) of shoes or jaws between the inner ring (1) and the outer ring (2) with normal clutching forces tht act more or less on one plane (13) or diameter, by one or more revolving webs (6) connected to the rings and extending between the rows, and by an activating mechanism (9) that approximately simultaneously tightens and loosens the shoes.

  • Patent number: 5029433
Abstract: Strapper with a mechanism that has a tensioning wheel and tensions a section or steel strap obtained from a supply role and wrapped around a package and with a mechanism that has a stationary lower jaw and an upper jaw that executes a punching motion, fastening together the overlapping ends of the strap with at least two pairs of angled cuts positioned along the strap. The upper jaw that executes the punching motion is mounted and operated such that, as it executes its intended punching motion, one of the pairs of angled cuts begins to be introduced before the other pair does. To introduce the pairs of angled cuts, the operating surface of the upper jaw, the surface, that is, that faces the lower jaw, executes an essentially roller motion over the operating surface of the lower jaw combined with a motion that approaches the upper jaw to the lower jaw, so that the motion that introduces the first pair of angled cuts to begin terminates before the next pair of cuts to begin.

  • Patent number: 4989999
Abstract: An empty-center rotating-roller joint with a non-segmented race (1) that has a lip (17) extending radially outward and with a U-shaped cross-section outer race (2) that encloses the lip. Two rows of rollers (11 & 12) transmit axial loads and one row (13) of rollers transmits radial loads. The rollers roll over hardened roller-contact surfaces (5, 6, 7, 8, 9, & 10) between the races. Roller-contact surfaces (8, 9, & 10) in the form of hardened wires (18, 19, and 20 ) are positioned against the lip of the non-segmented race (1) only. The contact surfaces of the lip of the non-segmented disk-shaped race can be hardened without the hardening process contributing to excess tension in the race. Furthermore, once the teeth on the race have been hardened, very little or no additional machining of the races will be necessary.

  • Patent number: 4948099
Abstract: A cap with a covering portion to cover a post having a rectangular-shaped cross-section for holding woven fencing having longitudinal rods. The cap is formed from a sheet metal blank and has a cover component that may be secured to the post. This cover has a width equal to the width of the post, and a depth which is greater than that of the post. The cap has an excess portion which extneds beyond the depth of the post and is provided with cut-outs along a section of an edge adjacent to the post. Free ends of sections connected to the cover have joggs extending from the cover to the cross-section of the post and matching cross-sections of the longitudinal rods in the fencing. These sectoins connected with a cover have excess portions extending beyond the depth of the post with slits to form webs extending to bases of the excess portions.

  • Patent number: 4924707
Abstract: An arrangement in which at least one ultrasonic sensor is coupled to an article to be tested by a liquid coupling medium in an automatic ultrasonic testing of strips, sheets, and pipes that follow each other as individual pieces. The sensor is positioned along a testing path at a constant distance away from the article by a holder. The sensor has a sound emisson surface, and at least one separate free jet of coupling medium is positioned at a side of the sensor in a plane crossing the testing path. The free jet intercepts a central axis of the sound emission surface, and a layer of coupling medium is formed between the sound emission surface and the surface of the article. Testing of the article includes interior regions covered by all surfaces of the article, as well as the end regions and edges of the article.

  • Patent number: 4789254
Abstract: In a large antifriction bearing consisting of two bearing races and at least two track systems disposed therebetween each having a rolling element row which rolls on associated tracks of the bearing races, one rolling element row (4, 11) is of a different material to the other rolling element row (5, 12) to enable bearing properties such as clearance or bias, rotation resistance and wear compensation to be influenced without external action or interventions on the bearing and also to permit compensation of different track tolerances at the periphery (FIG. 1).

  • Patent number: 4778287
Abstract: The invention concerns an annular multi-row bearing with shaped-wire races with an inner and an outer race, each of which constitutes part of the tracks for the rolling components, and with rolling components accommodated between them. The particular object is, in addition to others, to create a bearing that, although stable, is resilient enough when transverse forces occur to allow both races to twist in relation to each other within certain limits, avoiding stress. The invention attains this in that the contact or rolling surfaces between the races and the rolling components are provided with a contour that deviates from the rectilinear and mutually surrounds itself and in that these contact surfaces are shaped and/or positioned such that there is a four-point bearing in each track. This principle can be embodied with either ball bearings or roller bearings, whereby only three shaped wires are preferably employed. The angles of support range, depending on the type of bearing, between approximately 30.degree.
