  • Patent number: 4062710
Abstract: A method of covering a metallic pipe and other metallic articles with thermoplastic synthetic material, especially polyethylene according to which the synthetic material is in the form of a foil leaving an extruder helically wound upon a heated-up rotating steel pipe. The thus applied foil is by means of a roller pressed onto the pipe to be covered. Prior to the foil contacting the steel pipe, the foil is passed over the pressing roller through an angle range of from 25.degree. to 50.degree..

  • Patent number: 4050212
Abstract: A profile steel of an about U-shaped cross section, which has a profile bottom with webs and flanges slightly inclined toward each other and extending in the direction toward the open profile side. This profile steel, which is particularly well suited as profile steel segment when preparing reinforcing frames in connection with the building of mine shafts and tunnels, has a profile bottom which at its longitudinal sides has steps directed to the open side of the profile. These steps merge with the above mentioned webs which in their turn at the ends remote from the steps end in flanges pointing toward each other.

  • Patent number: 4048831
Abstract: For use in connection with an underground reel in a rolling mill for band-shaped rolling stock, a two-roll driving device, with an upper driving roll and a lower driving roll which are arranged one above the other. When looking in the direction in which the rolling stock enters the reel, the axle of the upper driving roll is during the entry of the start of the rolling stock into the reel located behind the axle of the lower driving roll and after the start of the band-shaped rolling stock has been grasped by the winding mandrel of the reel the upper driving roll is pivotable into a position vertically above the axle of the lower driving roll, while behind the lower driving roll there is provided a deviating device for the band-shaped rolling stock. The upper driving roll is journalled in a stand which is pivotable about the axis of the lower driving roll and adjustable relative to the latter.

  • Patent number: 4030786
Abstract: A multi-row anti-friction bearing for absorbing simultaneously occurring axial, radial, and torque loads, in which in a divided bearing ring there are provided a first and second or a first, second and third wire body each of which forms one raceway for the anti-friction elements, e.g. in the form of cylindrical rollers. In a non-divided bearing ring there is provided an additional wire body with two raceways and, if desired, a fifth wire body with one raceway only. With each raceway there cooperates one but a different anti-friction element, while the axes of rotation of both anti-friction elements, e.g. cylindrical rollers, cooperating with the two raceways of the additional wire body extend at a right angle to said last mentioned two raceways.

  • Patent number: 4023990
Abstract: A steel composed of from 0.004 to 0.05% of carbon, from 0.10 to 4.0% of silicon, not in excess of 0.45% of manganese, not in excess of 0.60% of aluminum, from 0.030 to 0.250% of phosphorus, from 0.02 to 0.2% of zirconium, and the remainder iron with impurities inherent to the manufacturing process. The invention also includes the method of making a steel band which includes the steps of intermixing in liquid condition and in a vacuum from 0.004 to 0.05% of carbon, 0.10 to 4.0% of silicon, not in excess of 0.45% of manganese, not more than 0.60% aluminum, from 0.030 to 0.250% of phosphorus, from 0.02 to 0.2% of zirconium, and the remainder iron with impurities inherent to the manufacturing process, warm rolling the thus obtained composition into a band, pickling said band and cold rolling it, and subsequently passing the thus treated band through a continuous heating furnace while annealing said last mentioned band at a temperature of from 750.degree. to 1250.degree. C for a time period of from 1 to 7 minutes.

  • Patent number: 4015882
Abstract: An anti-friction bearing, especially for absorbing large axial, radial, and moment loads, which comprises an inner race ring and an outer race ring with the raceways for receiving therebetween the anti-friction bodies such as balls, rollers, etc. One of the race rings is detachably connected with an auxillary race ring which represents an emergency raceway and corresponds to a respective raceway of the respective adjacent race ring. This auxiliary race ring is put into operation when a signalling device has indicated a certain wear of the bearing over its original condition of operation.

  • Patent number: 4015475
Abstract: A method of and device for stripping off a lost measuring head which is detachably placed on the immersible end of a measuring lance and is embedded in a protective tube extending above the measuring lance. According to the method of the invention, compressed air is introduced into the lance within the region of the sealed free end of the lance after pulling the lance for stripping off the lost measuring head.

  • Patent number: 4015884
Abstract: A center-free one-row ball bearing with only two race wires arranged in non-divided bearing rings and with two-point contact, in which the radius generating the rolling surface of the race ways is always greater than the radius of the balls rolling in these race ways. The two race wires which are preferably made of profiled material and which receive the balls therebetween are arranged in the bearing rings radially with regard to the axis of rotation of the bearing.

  • Patent number: 4003121
Abstract: An elongated unhardened blank is passed between a first pair of rollers where it is conductively heated by supplying current to one of the rollers. Thereafter, the blank is further heated by induction and then passed between a second pair of rollers where it is shaped so as to impart thereto a predetermined cross-sectional configuration. The rollers of the second pair are profiled and the blank is maintained at an elevated temperature by supplying current to one of the rollers. After shaping, the blank is passed between a third pair of rollers. Current is again supplied to one of these rollers. The other roller is of a diameter corresponding to that desired for the finished annular articles and the blank is coiled about this roller. This latter roller is partially immersed in a quenching medium so that the blank is quenched and thereby hardened as it is being coiled. Coiling is continued until the number of convolutions corresponds to the number of annular articles which are to be produced.

  • Patent number: 3992916
Abstract: An intake device for a band rolling mill, which includes an upper driving roller and a lower driving roller adjustable relative to each other and forming with each other a bite into which the band to be rolled is fed by the driven rollers of a lower roller bed and the driven rollers of an upper roller bed while both roller beds form with each other a wedge-shaped feeding funnel pointing toward the bite formed by the upper and lower driving rollers. The angle which the upper and lower roller beds form with each other is variable at will.

  • Patent number: 3985313
Abstract: A reel system, especially for rolling up strip steel, in which a rotatable housing is provided which has two circumferentially spaced spindles extending therefrom parallel to the axis of the housing, a gear in the housing is provided for each spindle and each spindle can be clutched to the housing or to the respective gear. A motor on the outside of the housing drives a gear meshing with the first mentioned gears while a ring gear on the housing meshes with a motor driven pinion for rotation of the housing. The housing carries clamp arms actuatable for clamping a wound up reel on each spindle. The arrangement permits each spindle to be positioned selectively in reeling up position for winding up a reel while the other spindle is positioned for discharging a reel previously wound up thereon.
