Publication number: 20120088467Abstract: A signaling system is provided for rendering an alarm for an individual in distress combined with a locating and tracking system to thus alert and direct appropriate personnel to the needs of the individual in distress and to monitor the location of that individual. The system comprises a portable signaling unit, a remote alarm switch device, a central dispatch station, and makes use of a wireless communication system. The portable signaling unit and the remote alarm switch may be adapted to be worn at different locations on the person's body. The remote alarm switch way be concealed in the form of a wristband or in the form of any other object such as a broach, pendant, or keychain.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 14, 2006Publication date: April 12, 2012Applicant: Hoffman Resources LLCInventors: Mark Hoffman, Judd Hoffman, Ann Hoffmann, David Doe

Publication number: 20040021923Abstract: A method of operating a micromechanical scanning apparatus includes the steps of identifying a radius of curvature value for a micromechanical mirror and modifying a laser beam to compensate for the radius of curvature value. The identifying step includes the steps of measuring the far-field optical beam radius of a laser beam reflected from the micromechanical mirror. The measured far-field optical beam radius is then divided by a theoretical far-field optical beam radius reflected from an ideal mirror to yield a ratio value M. An analytical expression for M is curve-fitted to experimental data for M with the focal-length as a fitting parameter. The focal-length value determined by this procedure, resulting in a good fit between the analytical curve and the experimental data, is equal to half the radius of curvature of the micromechanical mirror.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 25, 2003Publication date: February 5, 2004Applicant: Hoffman Resources LLCInventors: Paul M. Patent number: 6624754Abstract: The personal security and tracking system that enables an individual in distress to initiate an alarm to alert appropriate personnel combined with a locating and tracking system that enables the alerted personnel to monitor the location of the individual in distress. The system comprises a portable signaling unit includes a locating system and a manual trigger switch to provide the priority alarm levels. The central processing station receiving signals from the portable signaling unit to process and analyze the signal of interpreting the geographical location and the priority alarm signal.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 1999Date of Patent: September 23, 2003Assignee: Hoffman Resources LLCInventors: Mark Hoffman, Judd Hoffman, Ann Hoffman, David Doe

Patent number: 5742233Abstract: A signaling system comprises a portable signaling unit, a remote alarm switch device, a central dispatch station, and a wireless communication system such as a cellular or telephone system, etc., and a GPS or alike system. The portable signaling unit and the remote alarm switch may be adapted to be worn at different locations on the person's body. The remote alarm switch may be concealed in the form of a wristband or in the form of any other object such as a broach, pendant, or keychain. When the person in distress activates the remote alarm switch or when the remote alarm switch is removed from the individual by a forceful or unauthorized action or when the signaling unit is removed from the proximity of the remote alarm switch, the portable signaling unit sends a data transmission which includes its location to the central dispatch station. The portable signaling unit also has manual alarm trigger capabilities so it can be used without the remote alarm switch unit.Type: GrantFiled: January 21, 1997Date of Patent: April 21, 1998Assignee: Hoffman Resources, LLCInventors: Mark S.
