Abstract: A multi-step method to repair damaged wooden pallets includes in a first step, the connector members of the pallet element to be replaced are cut through by means of a band saw and then removed. In a subsequent step, both the partially disassembled pallet as well the new pallet elements are transferred into an assembly station, where the new pallet elements are attached to the pallet from the top side. Preferably, damaged bottom parts of the pallet are removed as a module Before the replacement module is attached, preferably the position of the connector elements still present in a top deck board member is electronically scanned, such that the new connector members can be applied in a position offset to the existing connector members.
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for aligning and/or retaining pallets to be repaired and/or pallet elements used in repairing pallets. The apparatus comprises a base frame comprising at least one fixed lateral stop member and at least one movable lateral stop member for each bottom deck board member and/or for each connecting block member of a pallet. The movable lateral stop member is adapted to press the particular bottom deck board member and/or the assigned connecting block members against the cooperating fixed lateral stop member, such that the particular bottom deck board member and/or the connecting block members is/are aligned with reference to a line running perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the pallet and retained in that position. Preferably, a movable lateral stop member is assigned to each fixed lateral stop member. Additionally, the apparatus comprises at least one fixed longitudinal stop member and at least one movable longitudinal stop member.
Abstract: In order to repair damaged wooden pallets (1a) as simply, efficiently and permanently as possible, a multi-step method is proposed. Thereby, in a first step, the connector members of the pallet element to be replaced are cut through by means of a band saw and then removed. In a subsequent step, both the partially disassembled pallet as well the new pallet elements are transferred into an assembly station (18), where the new pallet elements are attached to the pallet (1f) from the top side thereof. Preferably, damaged bottom parts of the pallet, for example a bottom deck board member or a connecting block member, are removed as a module, i.e. in the form of a skid. Such a procedure facilitates the attachment of the spare module from the top side of the pallet.
