Abstract: Apparatus for removing fiber bales arranged in a row which includes a plurality of spaced generally vertically disposed supports, a pair of spaced generally parallel rails carried by these supports at positions spaced above a surface upon which the fiber bales are arranged in a row, an elongated vertically disposed carriage having upper and lower end portions, the carriage being suspendingly supported by rollers in its vertically disposed position, one of these rollers being driven to move the carriage along the rails, a slide vertically reciprocated upon the carriage, a generally horizontally disposed bracket carried by the slide, the bracket being in overlying relationship to a fiber bale therebeneath, and grabbing fingers carried by the bracket for grabbing fiber from the fiber bale therebeneath.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to an apparatus for conveying material as it is removed from rows of bales for subsequent utilization during a spinning operation, the apparatus including a generally elongated channel having an elongated longitudinally disposed slot, a frame movable along rails on opposite sides of the channel, the frame carrying a carriage pivoted thereto along with a telescopic tube for delivering material removed from bales to the channel, a flexible belt, a first end of the flexible belt being secured to an end of the channel, a second end of the flexible belt being entrained about a drum such that the flexible belt can be placed in overlying relationship to the slot upon movement of the frame along the rails whereby material delivered into the channel is covered by the belt and a drive mechanism for appropriately rotating the drum to wind and unwind the belt during movement of the frame along the rails.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to a control device for opening fiber bales arranged in a row including a carriage movable along a horizontal rail and carrying a slide which is vertically reciprocal with the slide carrying grabbing fingers which can both grab and release a fiber bale, such as a pressed bale of cotton, and a pneumatic control circuit for pneumatically oscillating the carriage, operating the grabbing fingers and moving the slide up and down, the pneumatic control system also including a program wheel carrying a plurality of contact cams which operate a valve to initiate the cycling of the device and a pneumatically operated ratchet for indexing the program for appropriately cycling the control device and moving the fiber bales as desired.

Abstract: In an opening unit for open-end spinning machines, which comprises a housing and a roller lined with sawtooth wire and rotatably arranged in the housing for separating the fibers along their path from the inlet to the outlet of the opening unit, a dirt separation duct is provided in the housing and is maintained under a reduced pressure. In the wall of the housing adjacent at least one side of the dirt separation duct a parallelizing element is inserted which comprises a plurality of saw tooth wire sections arranged in a side-by-side relationship and serving to balance the adverse effect of the dirt separation duct on the parallel flow of fibers on their path through the opening unit.

Abstract: In a carding machine having cylinders, which are provided with a clothing of a saw-tooth wire helically wound thereon, carding elements are provided having saw-tooth wire sections, which are arranged at an acute angle to a plane that is transverse to the axis of rotation of the cylinders.

Abstract: The dirt separator for carding machines is located upstream of the doffer cylinder and comprises a knife blade (16) as well as a foot portion or base plate that is provided with a toothed wire clothing (19), which is arranged with a clearance of about 0.25 mm from the main drum of the carding machine. The knife blade (16) is preceeded by a gap (27), which is in fluid flow communication with a suction duct (24).

Abstract: An opening or beater roller for open-end spinning machines, in which a cylindrical roller has a sawtooth wire wound helically onto its outer surface. The arrangement is such that a base region is widened in relation to the teeth. Base regions of adjacent turns of sawtooth wire are separated by a gap from one another, and the ratio of the height to the width of the base region is less than one.

Abstract: A dirt separator which is arranged between adjacent carding plates of a carding device and which comprises a knife blade and a collecting rail. Each of these elements is radially adjustable with respect to the main cylinder of the carding device. The knife blade, the collecting rail and a cover form a vacuum chamber that is adapted to be connected to a vacuum source. A longitudinal gap or clearance between the knife blade and the collecting rail serves to extract the dirt or trash from the treated material.

Abstract: A carding plate comprising a base plate having a concave and cylindrically shaped supporting surface adapted to receive a thin metal plate, onto which a plurality of parallely arranged saw-tooth wire segments are fixed. The so formed sub-assembly is clampingly held on the supporting surface by clamping strips, which are designed to be screwed to the base plate such that they exert a pressure on opposite edges of the metal plate.
