  • Patent number: 11090017
Abstract: Methods and systems for medical imaging including synthesizing virtual projections from acquired real projections and generating reconstruction models and images based on the synthesized virtual projections and acquired real projections. For example, first x-ray imaging data is generated from a detected first x-ray emission at a first angular location and second x-ray imaging data is generated from a detected second x-ray emission at a second angular location. Based on at least the first x-ray imaging data and the second x-ray imaging data, third x-ray imaging data for a third angular location relative to the breast may be synthesized. An image of the breast may be displayed or generated from the third x-ray imaging data.

  • Patent number: 11076820
Abstract: A tomosynthesis system has an x-ray source with an addressable array of electron emitting sections on the cathode. The x-ray source moves rotationally about an imaging target, such as a breast. During the rotation, x-rays are emitting from the x-ray source while the x-ray source continues to move. During the emission of x-rays, different subsets of electron-emitting sections of the addressable array are activated to compensate for movement of the x-ray source. By activating the different subsets of electron-emitting sections, an effective focal spot of the x-ray position appears to retain the same shape, size, and position from the perspective of the imaging target, despite movement of the x-ray source itself.

  • Publication number: 20210220522
Abstract: Methods and devices for facilitating post-resection tissue formation to accelerate healing are provided. A hydrogel scaffold with encapsulated cells may be prepared. The encapsulated cells may be cells of the patient undergoing the resection that correspond to a type of the tissue resected. The hydrogel scaffold may be integrated with a frame to form an implantable device for insertion into a cavity created by the resection. The hydrogel scaffold and the frame may be bioabsorbable, and the frame may include non-bioabsorbable, radiopaque markers spaced along the frame. Upon insertion of the implantable device into the cavity, the encapsulated cells may interact with native cells to facilitate new tissue formation within the hydrogel scaffold and other areas of the cavity, the frame may provide temporary structural support for the cavity to reduce deformations as new tissue is being formed, and the markers may enable identification of the resection site.

  • Patent number: 11045172
Abstract: A biopsy system driver includes a motor having a rotatable output shaft, a support structure, a drive shaft, an elongate lead screw and a biopsy instrument drive member. The drive shaft is rotatably coupled to the support structure and includes or is otherwise operatively connected to the motor output shaft such that activation of the motor rotates the drive shaft. The elongate lead screw is coupled to the drive shaft such that rotation of the drive shaft rotates the lead screw about an axis of the lead screw. The lead screw is axially translatable relative to the drive shaft and to the support structure. The biopsy instrument drive member is threadably coupled to the lead screw such that rotation of the lead screw causes axial translation of one of the lead screw and biopsy instrument drive member relative to the other one and to the support structure.

  • Patent number: 11009021
Abstract: A pump cartridge for mounting on a drive rotor includes a roller assembly having first and second hubs maintained in a spaced apart relationship and defining an axis, and a plurality of planetary rollers arranged in a circumferentially spaced orientation about the axis, the rollers mounted to the hubs displacement radially outward. One or more compressible tubing lines are interposed between the rollers and an interior wall of the pump cartridge housing. The housing and the first and second hubs collectively define a passageway through which a spreader on the drive rotor extends and may be rotated relative to the roller assembly to displace the rollers radially outward to thereby compress the tubing lines against the interior wall. A coupling feature on the first hub engages a roller driving feature of the rotor, so that rotation of the rotor causes rotation of the roller assembly about the axis.

  • Publication number: 20210128098
Abstract: Methods and devices for testing effects of external stimuli on breast appearance in an x-ray image are provided. A model for testing may include a breast phantom with an encapsulated hydrogel. In some examples, a three-dimensional cell culture and/or microfluidic channels may be encapsulated in the hydrogel. A first set of x-ray images of the model may be captured, thermal energy may be applied to the model, and a second set of x-ray images of the model may be captured while the thermal energy is being applied for comparison with the first set to determine effects of the thermal energy on appearance of the model. By incrementally increasing an amount of thermal energy applied and capturing subsequent x-ray images for comparison, an appropriate temperature range may be determined for heating compression surfaces of a breast imaging system to reduce compression-related pain and discomfort for patients without compromising x-ray image quality.
