Abstract: A method and apparatus for assembling a selected street pole to a standard sized base is disclosed. The method includes the step of selecting a street pole of a predetermined configuration. Encircling portions, preferably rings consisting of two semi-circular portions, each having a nestable section with each other and a complementary section with the selected street pole are then provided. The encircling portions are nested together on the standard sized base to connect the standard sized base to the selected street pole thereby continuing the appearance finish of the standard sized base while preventing unauthorized access to an interior of the standard sized base. The apparatus includes the encircling portions to connect the standard sized base to the selected street pole.

Abstract: An internally illuminated sign in which a luminaire mounted on the border or periphery of the sign uniformly illuminates the face and/or faces of the sign thereby eliminating any necessity for providing human access to the interior of the sign for maintenance and relamping.

Abstract: A system and method for controlling a DC to AC voltage inverter. The system and method include an inverter for generating a pulse width modulated (PWM) waveform to convert a DC input voltage to an AC output voltage suitable for use with a non-linear electrical load, and a signal generator for generating a AC output voltage signal representing the AC output voltage. The system and method further include a processor for processing the AC output voltage signal to select the PWM waveform, and a control signal generator for generating a control signal based on the PWM waveform selected operative to control the inverter for generating a PWM waveform.

Abstract: A luminaire assembly which is adapted for easy cleanability. The luminaire assembly includes a housing portion having a substantially smooth outer surface and which is further adapted to receive and enclose a ballast assembly. An optical assembly is further adapted to be affixed to the housing portion in a substantially sealed, water-tight relationship to define an internal chamber to receive and enclose a lamp. The optical assembly has an inner surface and an outer surface contiguous with the housing portion outer surface and has an opening defined therein. A removable door has an inner surface and an outer surface adapted to be affixed in a sealed relationship with the optical assembly opening when in a closed position. The door is further provided with a breathing aperture of a predetermined lateral dimension for permitting ambient air to enter and leave the internal chamber.
