Abstract: A flexible coupling in which segmented elastomeric coupling elements are fixed to radially extending from immovable flanges on annular inner and outer coupling members by a fastening system. A plurality of bushes in the elastomeric elements receive bolts extending from movable clamping plates to the immovable flanges to hold the elastomeric elements in compression.

Abstract: A torsional vibration damper of the type that incorporates a plurality of radially extending springs in chambers containing damping fluid. The springs flexibly connect an inner hub with an annular outer component comprised of two rings fastened in abutting relation. Opposed recesses in the rings form spring receiving chambers. The outer ends of the springs are clamped either by shims or spring seating wedges acting against the side walls of the recesses, thus eliminating the need for a peripheral clamping ring holding the springs in clamped relation.

Abstract: A variable geometry turbine in which an inlet passageway has a movable wall the position of which is adjusted to match the turbine characteristics to the flow rate through the turbine. Nozzle vanes extend through the movable wall and are mounted on a nozzle support which is normally stationary so that the nozzles contact the facing wall of the inlet passageway. The nozzle support is arranged to move with the movable wall however when the movable wall opens the inlet passageway beyond a predetermined extent so that the nozzle vanes are at least partially retracted when the movable wall is in the fully open position.
