  • Patent number: 4552167
Abstract: A double seat valve, preferably a multi-way valve having two valve disks movable independently one against the other and against the valve seats, defines an annular space between the two valve disks which is connected to the outer atmosphere by a discharge conduit. According to the invention, at least three nozzles project axially in the discharging conduit to eject jets of cleaning liquid along the inner wall of the conduit, then the jets are bent radially outwardly along the lower surface of the upper valve disk, spread into circular segments which mix together along the boundary lines and then the mixed cleaning liquid is returned along the inner surface of the lower valve disk and discharged through the opposite wall of the discharge conduit.

  • Patent number: 4550029
Abstract: Continuous pressure boiling of beer wort is carried out in a multistage column having an upright inner wall enclosing a head region near the top of the column, a sump region near the bottom of the column and a wort compartment between the head and sump regions. The wort compartment includes a plurality of superposed, substantially horizontal plates. Each plate is provided with an overflow weir on its upper surface with an opening between the overflow weir and the wall of the column. Regenerative preheated wort is charged onto an upper plate and flows downward from one plate to another over the overflow weirs and through the openings. A heated gaseous medium introduced into the sump region raises through the openings and heats the downward flowing wort to boiling temperature to degas and free the wort from undesirable foreign substances. Vapors from the wort are condensed in the head region and discharged, and the processed wort is discharged from the sump region.

  • Patent number: 4442653
Abstract: In a bottle- and can-filling machine the bottles after filling are fed from a star wheel directly to a capping carrousel and cans after filling are fed from the star wheel via a feed device along a feed path to a closing machine. This feed device is a feed chain extending from the closing machine right up to the star wheel of the filling machine and lying to the side of the center of the can path at the star wheel. Normally the chain lies to the outside of the center of this path at the star wheel and has fingers engageable behind the cans.

  • Patent number: 4440201
Abstract: A liquid discharge nozzle for container filling valves includes an inner member and an outer member which together define an upstream section of a passage for the flow of the liquid to be filled into a container therethrough in the downward direction. The outer member has a valve seat cooperating with a valve member to open or close the passage. The outer member forms a groove which accommodates the lower part of the inner member to form a siphon-type trap therewith, the groove being separated from a downstream section of the passage, which is situated in the discharge nozzle portion of the outer member, by a ridge. A plurality of openings, such as notches or bores, is provided through the ridge in substantially radial directions, each of the openings extending from the groove to slightly upwardly of the valve seat. The openings have such dimensions that surface tension of the liquid present therein prevents gases from penetrating through such openings into the upstream section of the passage.

  • Patent number: 4431224
Abstract: An arrangement for displacing piece goods has a plurality of supporting shafts and a plurality of grippers mounted on the supporting shafts so that when some of the grippers come into contact with the piece goods at location whereat no gripping openings are provided they do not prevent other of the grippers from unobjectionable engagement into the openings of the piece goods, and the grippers are provided in such a number that they can engage in the openings arranged in accordance with any of the different opening patterns.

  • Patent number: 4254792
Abstract: A double-seat valve has a first valve member and a second valve member which abut against one another after a predetermined stroke to an open position, so as to form a closed chamber. A draining conduit communicates with the thus-formed chamber. The valve members are mounted on a common shaft. One of the valve members is variable so that its seating face is displaceable relative to a point in which this valve member is mounted on the common shaft. The one valve member may be elastically deformable or corrugated.

  • Patent number: 4221760
Abstract: Successive increments of a thermoplastic tube are extruded in vertical direction from an orifice, and a first partible mold is closed about the increment immediately downstream of the orifice whereupon the increment is expanded to the shape of a first semi-finished container, while simultaneously completing the expansion of the neck region of an already filled second semi-finished container accommodated in a second partible mold downstream of the first mold and communicating with the interior of the first container, is completed. The containers are then sealed and separated from one another and the first container in the first mold is filled. The second container is discharged from the second mold and the relative positions of the molds are reversed in preparation for repetition of the preceding steps.

  • Patent number: 4146065
Abstract: A method of charging into containers a liquid contained in a rotary tank of a bottling machine whereby different pressures are built up in each container during the filling process so that at the beginning the liquid is discharged by the force of gravity and thereafter the pressure in the container is reduced with respect to the tank pressure to introduce a quick filling phase; after attaining a predetermined amount of charge in the container or after a certain time interval the pressure in the container is automatically increased irrespective of the rotational is automatically increased irrespective of the rotational speed of the bottling machine or of the rate of flow of the discharged liquid. The bottling machine includes an annular channel the gas pressure of which is reduced with respect to the gas pressure in the tank but is higher than the atmospheric pressure.
