Abstract: A method for adjusting brightness of a display device acquires optical signals from a plurality of light sensors positioned on the display device. The optical signals are converted into digital signals. An ambient brightness value is determined according to the digital signals. If the ambient brightness value is not less than a predetermined value, a calibration brightness value of the display device is calculated according to the ambient brightness value. If the calibration brightness value is equal to zero and the display device has received video signals during a predetermined time interval, a current brightness value of the display device is maintained. If the calibration brightness value is not equal to zero and the display device has received the video signals during the predetermined time interval, the current brightness value of the display device is adjusted according to the calibration brightness value.

Abstract: A temperature control system includes a motherboard, a first fan to cool the motherboard, and a baseboard management controller (BMC) connected to the first fan. The motherboard includes a front end area including a first temperature sensor, and a rear end area including a second temperature sensor. The BMC is connected to the first temperature sensor to receive a first temperature sensed by the first temperature sensor, and connected to the second temperature sensor to receive a second temperature sensed by the second temperature sensor. When the first temperature is more than the second temperature, the BMC controls rotational speed of the first fan according to the first temperature. When the second temperature is more than the first temperature, the BMC controls rotational speed of the first fan according to the second temperature.

Abstract: An electronic device with firmware recovery function includes a connecting port to connect the electronic device to an external device and a BMC. The BMC includes a firmware memory storing firmware data of the BMC and a microprocessor. The microprocessor determines whether the BMC is able to execute the firmware data in the firmware memory, and determines whether a download command for downloading firmware data is received from the external device when the BMC is not able to execute the firmware data in the firmware memory. The microprocessor further reads the firmware data from the external device into a memory space of the microprocessor upon receiving the download command, and recovers the firmware data in the firmware memory by writing the firmware data from the memory space of the microprocessor into the firmware memory. A related method is also provided.

Abstract: A server includes a motherboard, a first test unit, and an indication device. The first test unit is connected to a first voltage terminal of the motherboard to receive a first voltage. The first test unit determines whether the received first voltage is within a range between a first predetermined voltage and a second predetermined voltage. If the first voltage is not within the range between the first predetermined voltage and the second predetermined voltage, the indication device indicates that the first voltage is abnormal.

Abstract: A connector includes a block, a connector body formed on a bottom surface of the block, and a number of cables connected to the connector body and extending through a top surface of the block. A binding member includes a plate extending out from the block and a binding portion extending from the plate. A distal end of the binding portion is detachably engaged with the plate, thereby binding the cables between the plate and the binding portion.

Abstract: A positioning device for positioning a number of two-sided adhesive pieces includes a base, a number of pulling blocks, and a pressing block. The base includes a positioning block defining a number of positioning holes. Each pulling block includes a connecting plate, and a supporting plate protruding out from a top end of the connecting plate. A first surface of each adhesive piece is adhered on a top surface of one of the supporting plate. The connecting plate is received in a corresponding one of the positioning hole. The pressing block is attached to the positioning block. A second surface of each adhesive piece to be adhered to a bottom surface of the pressing block.

Abstract: A measuring device for measuring adhesive strength of two-sided adhesive pieces includes a frame, a supporting apparatus fixed to the frame, and a positioning apparatus installed on the supporting apparatus. The frame includes a pull member slidably installed on the frame along a first direction. The supporting apparatus includes a base secured on the frame, and a supporting assembly slidably installed on the base along a second direction perpendicular to the first direction. The positioning apparatus includes a supporting plate slidably installed on the supporting assembly along a third direction perpendicular to the first and second directions, and a number of pulling blocks. Each adhesive piece is adhered between the supporting plate and a corresponding pulling block. Each pulling block is connected to the pull member to be pulled up to disengage from the supporting plate, thereby measuring the adhesive strength of the adhesive piece.

Abstract: An adjustment mechanism includes a first adjustment assembly and a second adjustment assembly. The first adjustment assembly includes a first regulating member and a second regulating member. The first regulating member includes a bearing plate and a first supporting portion protruding from the bearing plate. The first supporting portion includes an arcuate first supporting surface. The second regulating member includes a base body and a second supporting portion protruding from the base body away from the first supporting portion. The second supporting portion includes an arcuate second supporting surface. The second adjustment assembly includes a mounting member latched with the base body. First supporting surface resists the base body, to enable the bearing plate to rock along a curvature relative to the base body. Second supporting surface resists the mounting member, to enable the bearing plate and the base body to rock relative to the mounting member.

Abstract: A power supply conversion circuit includes a PWM chip and many sub-circuits. Each sub-circuit includes an inductor, a first capacitor connected to ground, a first resistor connected in series with the first capacitor to form a branch parallel to the inductor, a differential pair having a first differential signal trace and a second differential signal trace, a second resistor, and a second capacitor. The first trace is connected between the connection of the first resistor and the first capacitor and the PWM chip. The second resistor is connected between the connection of the first resistor and the inductor and the second capacitor. The second trace is connected between the connection of the second resistor and the second capacitor and the PWM chip. The ratios of the capacitances of each two second capacitors are the same as that of the lengths of the traces of each two corresponding differential pairs.

Abstract: A computer-based method and a computing device for checking stub lengths of via stubs of a printed circuit board (PCB) layout are provided. The computing device displays a check interface, selects signal transmission line from a currently run PCB layout through the check interface, receives a reference stub length input through the check interface, and determines the actual stub length of each via stub of each via each selected signal transmission line connected to. The computing device further determines that a design of one via stub satisfies the design standards, if the actual stub length of the one stub via is less than or equal to the reference length, and determines that a design of one via stub does not satisfy the design standards if the actual stub length of the one via stub is greater than the reference stub length.

Abstract: A protocol resolution device electrically connected to a central processing unit (CPU) includes a signal controller to receive communication protocol from the CPU, a signal input module, and display module. The signal input module provides an electrical signal to the signal controller. The signal controller decodes the communication protocol from the CPU and stores the decoded communication protocol, the signal controller selectively accesses and calls up the decoded communication protocol according to the electrical signal, and transmits the decoded communication protocol to the display module for display.

Abstract: An electronic device and a channel management method provide a predetermined channel information table to control channels in a television. Favorite channels are stored in the predetermined channel information table of the electronic device. In a predetermined channel mode, if an input channel code is not stored in the predetermined channel information table, the electronic device automatically adds the input channel code to the predetermined channel information table. If the input channel code is stored in the predetermined channel information table, the electronic device transfers the input channel code to the television and the television changes an active channel accordingly.

Abstract: A time synchronization system includes a host system, a BIOS module, a BMC module, and a RTC module. The BIOS module is embedded in the host system. The BMC module is connected with the BIOS module and communicates with the BIOS module. The RTC module communicates with the BMC module and provides time signals to the BMC module. The host system acquires the time signals from the BMC module through the BIOS module.

Abstract: A serial communication method is applied in a computing device to communicate serially with any external serial device. The computing device includes a baseboard management controller (BMC) and an operating system (OS). The BMC includes at least one physical serial port. The method generates a virtual serial port for the OS by emulating serial port functionality of the physical serial port. When the BMC is initializing the physical serial port and a serial device is connected to the physical serial port, an interrupt handler is activated to handle an interrupt triggered to the BMC by the serial device. The interrupt handler is deactivated when the physical serial port has been initialized by the BMC.

Abstract: A portable electronic device includes a first cover, a second cover and a connecting mechanism connecting the first cover with the second cover. The connecting mechanism includes a fixing base fixed on the first cover, a turning base fixed on the second cover, a first linking board rotatably connected to the fixing base and the turning base, a second linking board rotatably connected to the fixing base and the turning base. The fixing base, the first linking board, the turning base and the second linking board collectively form a four-bar linkage mechanism. The connecting mechanism further includes an arc spring urged between the second linking board and the fixing base to supply an elastic force to the four-bar linkage mechanism.

Abstract: A mounting apparatus is used to fix a flash drive mounted on a circuit board with a connector. The mounting apparatus receives the flash drive and connector.
