Abstract: A novel upright carpet cleaning extractor is disclosed which may be conveniently converted from the floor cleaning mode to the upholstery and/or stair cleaning mode. The overall configuration and operation of the extractor is similar to that of a typical upright vacuum cleaner and may be operated in the forward or reverse direction similar to a typical upright vacuum cleaner. When in the floor cleaning mode, cleaning solution is supplied to a solution distributor by gravity flow. However, when converted to the upholstery cleaning mode an auxiliary, air turbine driven cleaning solution pump is automatically energized for supplying pressurized cleaning solution to an upholstery or stair cleaning nozzle.

Abstract: A vacuum cleaner is provided with a nozzle having front and rear rollers that extend for, essentially, the width of the nozzle from side to side. Ideally, these rollers are mounted at least partly within the vacuumized envelope formed by the nozzle.
Abstract: The present invention teaches a utility, wet/dry, tank type, vacuum cleaner suitable for domestic use whereby wet or dry material may be alternately vacuumed. Two storage or receiving chambers are provided, preferably positioned one within the other. Two suction inlets, one communicating with the first chamber and the other communicating with the second chamber are provided such that wet and dry material may be selectively directed, by the user, to the appropriate chamber for collection.

Abstract: The herein disclosed invention relates to an improved liquid supply tank which may be releasibly attached to an ambulatory machine such as an upright domestic carpet cleaning extractor. A unique combination carrying handle and securement latch is taught which pivotly attaches to the tank for carrying when the tank is removed from the machine. The handle includes latching means that serves to secure the tank to the machine when the tank is attached thereto.
Abstract: A handle mounted trigger lever which is utilized as a solution release mechanism in an extractor is provided. The trigger switch as an `off` position and two `on` positions with the second `on` position obtainable by the depression of a release button, the release button being in a normally obstructing relationship with the trigger switch's movement in its first position. The release button includes a deformable obstructing portion which abuts with the trigger lever and limits trigger lever swing at the first `on` position. This obstructing portion may then be moved to a non-interfering relationship be deformation of the obstructing portion of the release button so that the trigger lever may then be moved to the second `on` position.
Abstract: The present invention discloses and teaches means for effecting a vacuum seal between the cover lid, outer tank and inner tank of a dual tank utility type vacuum cleaner wherein the inner tank is telescopingly positioned within the outer tank and suspended therein from the peripheral rim of the outer tank. The peripheral rims of the cover lid, inner tank and outer tank cooperate to fluidly isolate the inner tank from the outer tank and seal both tanks from the atmosphere.
