Abstract: A hose coupling latching arrangement is disclosed in which a resilient bendable member engages with an abutment to prevent the coupling from turning to a release position.
Abstract: The structure comprehends a power transmission for a power drive cleaner where the clutching arrangement is on the output shaft that provides a direct geared drive to the wheels.
Abstract: There is provided an actuating means, remote from the switch it actuates. A thin, flexible, lamella like link extends between the switch and actuating means, with the link moving in an enclosing channel for guidance.
Abstract: There is provided a full bag indicator which is calibrated by movement of it along the structure it is mounted to, to thereby vary an aperture leading into the full bag indicator.
Abstract: A vacuum cleaner is provided with a dirt cup and a dirt cup holder that telescopically engages with a handle of the cleaner for the guidance of it as the handle of the cleaner pivots relative to the main body of the cleaner.
Abstract: A floor care appliance or the like is provided with a duct clean out function by the use of a stoppered, sidewardly extending duct accessible to the user through the closure.
Abstract: A driven agitator is powered by a pulley-belt arrangement including an idler pulley. Upon agitator stall condition slippage occurs at the idler pulley, preventing rotor stall of the driving motor.
Abstract: An air filter bag is disclosed for use in vacuum cleaners. The filter bag includes a plastic collar having an annular rim for retaining the collar on a flanged inlet air duct and for establishing an air seal with the duct. The collar also includes an annular sealing lip spaced radially inward of the rim which engages a peripheral surface of the air duct thereby providing a dual sealing arrangement. In order to facilitate removal of the filter bag from the duct, the collar is provided with a tab portion integrally attached to the rim.
Abstract: A floor care appliance or the like is provided with vibration isolating means for its motor-fan system which includes isolation at the agitator driving motor pulley which acts against belt tension.
Abstract: The invention described provides a conventional switch and a switch actuating mechanism that includes an operator engagable pedal or button that, upon initiation, motivates a mechanism which turns the conventional switch on or off. A novel apexed slotted track arrangement tends to center a portion of the switch actuating mechanism.
Abstract: An agitator roll for a floor care appliance or the like is disclosed having short, angled beater bars. The agitator may be of foamed plastic.
Abstract: An air flow sensing arrangement is disclosed for use in a vacuum cleaner. A plenum chamber or cavity established by a first wall and a second wall is provided adjacent to a fan inlet with all air from a bag chamber being directed radially inward therethrough toward an aperture in the first wall communicating with the fan inlet. The second wall is provided with openings adjacent to its outer periphery so that air is proportionally directed into the cavity along a plurality of paths. An air distribution chamber is established by the second wall and a secondary filter is supported on the second wall. Air is distributed by the distribution chamber about an entire outer surface of a wall portion of the second wall so as to maintan a consistent proportion of air flow through the openings into the cavity in the event irregular filter clogging occurs. A flow sensing device including a pivoting vane having a magnet thereon is disposed within the cavity so as to be within a path of air flowing through the openings.
Abstract: The invention described provides a nozzle that includes a pivoted wand to permit relative movement in a vertical plane between the wand and nozzle during manipulation by the operator. The center for the pivot for the wand is located at floor level. This permits friction generated forces that are imparted to the nozzle to be imposed so as to prevent unbalanced moments being generated tending to tip the nozzle during its movement over a floor or carpeting.
Abstract: The invention is included in a nozzle having side exhaust so that its suction tube is connected to one side of the nozzle. A groove arrangement of part spiral configuration is made in the internal periphery of the nozzle to provide the nozzle air and entrained dirt with a motion tending to move the air and entrained dirt towards the connecting suction duct. This is occasioned by the agitator brush configuration moving air and entrained dirt in a rotary direction which movement is interrupted by the groove and then moved along it. In addition, the cross sectional dimensioning of the nozzle arrived at tends to provide a substantially constant velocity of air flow to insure a relatively even suction effect completely across the lateral extent of the nozzle mouth.
