Patent number: 4835983Abstract: An air conditioning kiosk for human occupants and automatic teller machines or the like. Intake and exhaust compartments hidden beneath the roof communicate with the outside through openings in a recessed coving. A conventional vapor compression, room air conditioner, mounted beneath the intake compartment draws outside air for cooling the conditioner's condenser, and discharges the air to the exhaust compartment. Air drawn from the interior of the kiosk is cooled by the conditioner's evaporator and recirculated. A fan in the intake compartment maintains a continuous supply of fresh air at a positive pressure in the kiosk.Type: GrantFiled: August 10, 1988Date of Patent: June 6, 1989Assignee: Hopeman Brothers, Inc.Inventors: Rupert P. Chandler, Jr., Fred R. McDavid, Jimmie D. Lough, Gary E. Dove

Patent number: 4779392Abstract: A building wall comprises channel-shaped uprights and metal-clad insulating panels arranged in alternating sequence so that the interior faces of the panels form parts of the interior walls of the building while the exterior faces of the panels form parts of the exterior walls of the building. Flanges are formed along the vertical edges of the sheet metal outer faces of the panels. These flanges extend into the open sides of the channel-shaped uprights and are situated in facing relationship with the inner faces of the uprights. Vertically aligned lances, struck out from the opposed plates of the channel-shaped uprights, are engaged with L-shaped slots of the flanges of the panels. The lances have camming surfaces which tightly urge the flanges of the panels against the inner faces of the side plates of the uprights so that the flanges and uprights reinforce each other to form a strong, rigid wall structure.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 1987Date of Patent: October 25, 1988Assignee: Hopeman Brothers, Inc.Inventors: Henry W. Patent number: 4756401Abstract: Load bars are transferred, in loaded condition, to or from the hangers of an overhead conveyor by a load transfer apparatus having a pair of parallel tracks approaching the power-driven conveyor path perpendicularly. The parallel tracks guide manually movable trolleys toward the power-driven conveyor path. The ends of these tracks nearest the power-driven conveyor are pivotable downwardly. To transfer a load from the manual trolleys to the power conveyor, the power conveyor is stopped, suspension chains of the power conveyor trolleys are hooked to the load bar, and the pivoted track sections are lowered until the suspension chains of the power-driven trolleys bear the load. Suspension chains of the manually movable trolleys can then be disconnected from the load bar, and the manual trolleys are removed from the tracks for reuse. The tracks are designed with flanges which prevent removal of the manual trolleys except at specified locations.Type: GrantFiled: February 20, 1987Date of Patent: July 12, 1988Assignee: Hopeman Brothers, Inc.Inventor: Thomas D. Patent number: 4622911Abstract: A shipboard bathroom module comprises a prefabricated base pan in which a floor drain and a shower drain are located adjacent to each other but on opposite sides of a shower stall curb. Both drains communicate with a common receptacle molded into the base. Water from a wash basin at a remote location within the module is conducted to the receptacle through the shower stall curb, which is hollow. A trap, which serves both drains as well as the wash basin, is located in a box which provides a recess in the deck. In one version of the invention the receptacle built into the bathroom base sits on top of the trap, and the trap is accessible through one of the drain openings in the floor of the module. In another version, wastewater is conducted out of the receptacle through a laterally extending conduit to a trap which serves two adjacent bathroom modules. In either case, the box in which the trap is located is prefabricated with various water supply and drain pipes already welded to its floor.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 1984Date of Patent: November 18, 1986Assignee: Hopeman Brothers, Inc.Inventor: Arthur H. Salminen

Patent number: 4233350Abstract: A foraminous sheet having properties similar to those of a sheet formed by perforation is made by arranging filaments in overlying groups to produce a non-woven mesh, and applying pressure to the overlying groups so that the intersections of the filaments are flattened to an extent such that the sheet which is produced has a substantially uniform thickness except at the locations of its openings and in the immediate vicinity thereof. The filaments of the mesh are fused together at their intersections in the pressure application step. Fusion of the filaments as well as flattening are aided by the application of heat.Type: GrantFiled: October 19, 1978Date of Patent: November 11, 1980Assignee: Hopeman Brothers, Inc.Inventor: Frank L. Patent number: 4195430Abstract: A support for use in conjunction with self-coiling indicia-carrying sheets in a movable indicia display utilizes two identical backing members, and two identical end members, a total of only four parts. Sheet metal is used, and roll retainers are integrally formed on the backing members, as are intermediate edge guides for the indicia-carrying sheets. The end members serve as edge guides, and also provide support for the ends of the roll retainers. The entire assembly is fastener-free, cooperating tabs and slots being used to secure the parts together. In a modified version, each end member is permanently secured to one of the backing members so that the support comprises only two separable parts, which are identical to each other. In another modification, adapted to be viewed from only one side, only one backing member is used.Type: GrantFiled: October 18, 1977Date of Patent: April 1, 1980Assignee: Hopeman Brothers, Inc.Inventor: James M. Patent number: 4126725Abstract: Dimensional stability of melamine decorative laminates is improved by a pair of spaced, foraminous steel foil layers, which resist shrinkage of the melamine layer. Steel foil layers are also used to prevent splitting of low-strength wallboard cores as a result of shrinkage of melamine facings, and each facing need have only a single steel foil layer in the case of a wallboard.Type: GrantFiled: April 15, 1977Date of Patent: November 21, 1978Assignee: Hopeman Brothers, Inc.Inventor: Frank L. Shiflet

Patent number: 4090315Abstract: A support for use in a movable indicia display comprises a series of at least three substantially identical panels arranged in edge-to-edge adjoining relationship in a plane, each panel having a first guide channel formed along one edge and located on one side of the plane and a second guide channel formed along the opposite edge and located on the other side of the plane, the non-adjacent guide channels of adjoining panels facing each other to provide a guide for the opposite edges of indicia-carrying means located therebetween.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 1977Date of Patent: May 23, 1978Assignee: Hopeman Brothers, Inc.Inventors: Asa V. Brown, Jr., James Marshall Suttles

Patent number: 4033084Abstract: A wallboard composed of a low-strength core of gypsum or the like can be successfully faced with a decorative plastic such as melamine if plastic is used on both sides, and a sheet of steel foil is located on both sides of the core between the core and the facing material. The use of steel foil greatly reduces the likelihood that low humidity will cause the gypsum core to split as a result of shrinkage of the facing material, and the provision of plastic on both sides of the core balances the wallboard eliminating any tendency to bow.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 1975Date of Patent: July 5, 1977Assignee: Hopeman Brothers, Inc.Inventor: Frank L.
