  • Patent number: 6948520
Abstract: An adjustable pressure regulator controls the flow of a gas from a high pressure source to a low pressure device at a predetermined outlet pressure. The regulator includes a body, a piston assembly carried by the body. The assembly has a piston, a flow conduit formed in the piston and a biasing element operably connected to the piston. The flow conduit has a regulated pressure outlet end. The piston and flow conduit are movable longitudinally in the body. A retainer element is engageable with the body and is movable toward and away from the body and the piston. A seat is carried by the retainer element and is movable therewith. The seat is engaged by the flow conduit to isolate a flow path through the regulator and disengaged from the flow conduit to provide a flow path through the flow conduit. The piston assembly biasing element biases the flow conduit away from the seat to open a flow path through the regulator.

  • Publication number: 20050121073
Abstract: A burst disk assembly is configured for use in a pressurized gas system for venting pressurized gas from the system in the event that the gas exceeds a predetermined pressure. The assembly includes a body having a plug region, a transition region adjacent and contiguous with the plug region and a venting region adjacent and contiguous with the intermediate region. The plug region defines an end rim and has an open cross-section. The transition region has an open cross-section that is less than the open cross-section of the plug region. The plug region and the transition region define a radial wall therebetween having a flat face. The venting region has an open cross-section that is less than the open cross-section of the intermediate region. A plug has a tapered cylindrical shape with a minimum cross-section that is less than the body plug region open cross-section and a maximum cross-section that is greater than the body plug region open cross-section.

  • Publication number: 20050103383
Abstract: A direct acting pressure regulator controls the flow of a gas from a high pressure source to a low pressure device. Gas is delivered from the regulator at a predetermined outlet pressure. The regulator includes a body having a high pressure inlet and defining a seat. A bonnet is engageable with the body to define a piston chamber within the body and the bonnet. The bonnet has a regulated gas outlet. A piston is disposed within the piston chamber and defines a gap between the piston and a wall defining the chamber. The piston is movable between an open regulator condition and a closed regulator condition. The piston includes a plug having a sealing surface engageable with the seat and movable toward the seat to the closed regulator condition and away from the seat to the open regulator condition. The plug includes axially disposed openings therein for communicating gas from around the plug to a central longitudinal bore in the piston.

  • Patent number: 6672332
Abstract: An adjustable pressure regulator for controlling the delivery of a gas from a high pressure source to a lower pressure device at a predetermined pressure is provided. A piston, spring and insert work with pressurized gas to open and close the pressure regulator, allowing or interdicting the flow of gas. In an open state, the spring forces the piston away from the insert allowing pressurized gas to flow into the system. Downstream back pressure, against the piston, overcomes the force of the spring and forces the regulator to close at a predetermined gas pressure. Regulator closing pressure is determined by the biasing force of the spring and distance between the piston and insert. The position of the insert, relative to the piston, is adjustable such that the distance is increased or decreased resulting in the concomitant increase or decrease of pressure to the downstream device.

  • Patent number: 6263927
Abstract: A venting trans-fill station transfer is used to transfer gas from a supply tank to a second tank, and provides a vent between the supply tank and the second tank. The station includes a body defining an inlet port and a discharge port in flow communication with one another defining a fill flow path extending therebetween. The body further defines a venting port in flow communication with the fill flow path and an environment outside of the station, defining a vent flow path between the fill flow path and the environment. A vent plug port is formed in the vent flow path intermediate the fill flow path and the environment. A vent plug is configured for receipt in the vent plug port and is engagable with the plug port to isolate the fill flow path from the environment and to provide flow communication between the fill flow path and the environment.
