Abstract: The invention is directed to a method for allowing a user at a client device to conditionally obtain files from either a server device located at, for example, a data center, or an appliance such as a local cache. Should the local appliance be accessible by the client at the time of the user's download request, the server may redirect the download request to the appliance. Otherwise, the file may be downloaded directly from the server. For example, a method configured according to the invention may receive, at a server device, login data from a client device, the login data being input by a user. An affiliated entity of the user based on the login data may be determined, after which an appliance status of the affiliated entity may be determined. A download process according to the appliance status may then be initiated.

Abstract: The invention is directed to a method for completing an online purchase via a fundraiser implemented online. This allows for an efficient manner of receiving donations to provide funds for a desired purchase, where each donation may be directly channeled to the purchase balance. Once the balance is met, the purchase may be automatically effected. For example, a computer-implemented method for effecting a purchase, configured according to the invention, provides, in electronic digital form, a user interface to initiate a fundraiser to provide funds for the purchase. Upon receiving, in electronic digital form, a user input via the user interface, a fundraiser structure, in electronic digital form, may be created based on the user input to enable receipt of a donation to pay for a portion of the purchase.

Abstract: The invention is directed to a method for producing, for example, a search results listing for educational content, where the listing is ordered based not only on content relevance to the search request, but also on the subscription status and entity affiliation of the user as related to the content. This places, near the top of the list, results that may be not only more relevant to the user, but those that may also be more efficiently accessed. For example, a method for an education-related content search, configured according to the invention, receives a login input from a user and extracts user data corresponding to the login input. Upon receiving a search request, the user data and the search request is transmitted, and an ordered search list that is ordered based on the user data is received.

Abstract: A system and method is provided for communicating student information among students, guardians, parents, administrators and educators with interface areas for each of them, the system configured to perform the method of maintaining assignments for students; grading responses to assignments provided by students; analyzing grades for each student; and notifying one of educators, a student and at least one of the student's parents and guardians if the student's grade triggers an event. If an event is triggered, such low grades, high grades, truancy or other student issues, then conferences can be scheduled or other activities.
