Abstract: Compositions for lapping gears and methods for preparing the same are described. These compositions contain a salt of polyaspartic acid and may contain additional components that are useful for lapping gears. Also provided are processes for using the compositions described herein.
Abstract: Aqueous media for quenching metal substrates are provided and contain (i) a polyvinylpyrrolidone/polyvinylcaprolactam copolymer and (ii) one or more of a second polymer, which is selected from (a) a substituted oxazoline polymer; (b) a poly(oxyethylene-oxyalkylene) glycol; or (c) a polyvinylpyrrolidone polymer. The quenching bath provides reduced cooling rates through the martensite temperature ranges. Also provided are processes for quenching metal substrates using these quenching media.
Abstract: Compositions useful in preventing fungal and bacterial growth in fibrous substrates, e.g., paper, are provided. These compositions also advantageously do not corrode metal substrates that are attached and/or adjacent to the fibrous substrate. The compositions contain didecyl dimethyl ammonium bicarbonate and didecyl dimethyl ammonium carbonate (DDABC), a water-soluble cationic salt of ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid, optionally water, and optionally an agent which complexes said water-soluble cationic salt of ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid. Also provided are products containing these compositions and methods of using the same.
