  • Patent number: 9641426
Abstract: A method and system for determining an optimal route from a node to a given sink node in a network is described. Sink node periodically transmits routing information containing an indicator of recency. This indicator of recency is periodically updated. Routing information is received by a plurality of nodes in the network. Each node receiving routing information compares the indicator of recency contained in the routing information with an indicator of recency stored at the node to determine whether the received routing information is more recent than the stored routing information. An optimal route to the sink node is determined based on this comparison. Each node also periodically transmits routing information based on stored routing information to other nodes.

  • Patent number: 8909488
Abstract: Usage of a utility in a multi-unit building is apportioned to a single unit by measuring the total usage of the utility using a meter unit to produce a total usage measurement, then positioning at least one sensor unit in a single unit of the multi-unit building and monitoring usage of the utility by the single unit using the at least one sensor unit to produce monitoring data. Then a processor unit receives the total usage measurement and the monitoring data and correlates them to generate correlated data. Finally, the processor unit apportions the total usage measurement to the single unit based on the correlated data.

  • Patent number: 8693495
Abstract: A method for a device to communicate in one operational mode over a wireless network uses any suitable media access control mechanism for periodically communicating scheduled data transmission information between nodes. Scheduled data is then periodically transmitted according to the scheduled data transmission information and neighbor scheduled data is periodically listened for according to the neighbor scheduled data transmission information. Finally, the device is otherwise allowed to enter in a different operational mode.
