Abstract: A system for providing a second user of a computer system with an additional auxiliary display for displaying the information on the primary display and additional augmented information to help the user more easily understand the information displayed on the primary display is disclosed. For example, the second display may show the information on the primary display and also additional information summarizing the information for the benefit of the second display. The additional information may be generated by the computer system, retrieved from the Internet, or generated by another computer connected to the computer system.

Abstract: Method, media, and system for authentication of a claimant as a claimed identity. Embodiments break the authentication process into two steps. In the first step, a registrant establishes an identity profile by presenting identity documents and authentication points that can later be used to verify that they are the person who established the identity profile. Subsequently, when a claimant claims the identity in the identity profile, an identity score and an authentication score can be calculated based on the identity profile and the information provided by the claimant. The authentication score measures how likely it is that the claimant is the same person who established the identity profile. The identity score measures how likely it is that the registrant is who they are claiming to be. The identity score and the authentication score can then be combined to determine the likelihood that the claimant actually corresponds to the claimed identity.

Abstract: Media, method and device for providing multiple, context-aware suggestion contexts to a user entering text data. To see the multiple suggestion contexts, the user can use a long-press gesture (or other gesture) to bring up a context-aware suggestion menu. This menu can include various suggestion contexts appropriate to the current text-entry field together with an indication of an additional gesture for each suggestion context. Each of these suggestion contexts can draw autocompletions (or other ways of inputting text) from a different source of completions, such as previous entries, common entries by other users, stored values, automatically determined values, and other sources.

Abstract: A system, method and media for providing a simplified, personalized tax interview to a user preparing a tax return for a taxpayer by determining which portions of a full tax interview are relevant to the return being prepared and then presenting only those relevant portions to the user. To make this determination, one or more prototypes (each representing one or more underlying characteristics associated with the return that inform the relevant portions of the tax interview) are determined for the return based on information already known before the tax interview is presented and may be updated based on information entered during the tax interview.

Abstract: To assist a professional with performing professional services, a client device is paired to a workstation via a server. The workstation creates a code indicative of the workstation and displays the code on a display of the workstation such that the client device can capture the code. The server is communicatively coupled with the workstation and the client device. The server is configured to receive a set of credentials from the client device, including information indicative of the code that was displayed on the workstation. The server analyzes the set of credentials to identify said workstation and pairs the client device with the workstation based upon said analysis of the code. The pairing allows the client device and the workstation to share information to assist the professional with performing professional services.

Abstract: System, method and media for managing user credentials by securely caching credentials to access shared, secure resources for subsequent reuse. When a user accesses a shared, secure resource for the first time, the system determines credentials for the user, which are then stored in a file readable only by that user but in a location hidden from that user. On subsequent attempts to access the resource, a system process running on behalf of the user accesses the hidden file to prepopulate the user's credentials so that they need not be re-entered. In this way, stored processes can access the resource with the correct user's credentials without requiring that they be entered every time.

Abstract: Media, method and system for creating software capable of performing the steps necessary to prepare a complex form, and more particularly to the use of annotations to specify dependency information for the fields of the form. Embodiments of the invention break down the logic of complex forms into the much simpler logic of individual form fields, greatly simplifying the implementation of the overall logic by allowing individual fields to be worked on independently, with clear delineation of structure and function between them. Embodiments of the invention further allow a user to specify the immediate precursors for a field, and then automatically determine a global calculation order for all fields that ensures that all of the precursor fields for each field being calculated have been previously calculated before that field is calculated.

Abstract: System, method and medium for securely transferring untrusted files from a portable storage medium to a computer. The invention can filter, scan and detonate untrusted files to be transferred to a computer from a portable storage medium. First, the types of files which are eligible to be selected for transfer are limited, by file type and/or content. Second, each file selected for transfer is scanned against a collection of signatures of known malware. Thus, files contain malware which has been previously identified as such can be blocked from ever being transferred to the computer. Finally, each file to be transferred is detonated by opening it in a controlled, sterile environment to determine if it adversely impact the operation of that sterile environment. Malware detected in this way can then be added to the collection of malware that can be detected by the second step.

Abstract: A computerized system and method for identifying tax documents to customize tax return preparation. Tax preparation software allows users to identify the tax documents relevant to a taxpayer's situation so that an appropriate tax return can be prepared. The software displays graphical representations of tax documents and allows the user to select the tax documents applicable to the taxpayer's situation by dragging and dropping them on a designated area on the computer display. Once the user has selected the appropriate tax documents, the software prompts the user for responses to data prompts that are appropriate for the taxpayer's situation according to the selected tax documents. The data prompts that are presented relate to the tax documents identified by the user and therefore, are relevant to the taxpayer's specific situation. Prompts for tax data that are not appropriate for the taxpayer's situation are not asked.

The received information may include information on a tax data provider and taxpayer identification information. The electronic intermediary connects automatically and electronically to the tax data provider based on the received information. The electronic intermediary collects automatically and electronically tax data from the tax data provider and processes automatically and electronically the collected tax data to obtain processed tax data. The electronic intermediary prepares automatically and electronically an electronic tax return by using the processed tax data.
