    Abstract: A shear orifice valve including a valve body, a torque motor mounted on the valve body, fluid inlet ducts in the valve body, a plurality of first opposed metering orifices in the valve body in communication with the first fluid duct, a plurality of second opposed metering orifices in the valve body in communication with the second fluid duct, an armature in the torque motor, a metering arm having first and second faces on opposite sides thereof coupled to the armature with the first and second faces located between the first and second opposed metering orifices, and a third fluid duct in the valve body for either receiving fluid simultaneously from the first orifices in response to movement of the metering arm in a first direction or for conducting fluid simultaneously to the second orifices in response to movement of the metering arm in a second direction.

    Abstract: A valve including a valve body, a torque motor mounted on the valve body and including an armature, a metering arm connected to the armature and extending into a first bore in the valve body, second and third coaxial bores in the valve body extending transversely to the first bore and being intersected by the metering arm, a pair of metering orifice members in the second and third bores with openings adjacent the metering arm, and fourth and fifth coaxial bores in the valve body having an axis which intersects both the metering arm and the axis of the second and third bores so as to permit viewing of the metering arm relative to the metering orifice members, a loose connection between the torque motor and the valve body to permit adjustment of the metering arm relative to the metering orifice members, and adjustment structure for permitting the axial and rotational orientation of the metering orifice members within the second and third bores.

    Abstract: A hydraulic servovalve including a torque motor and a valve housing containing a fluid inlet conduit in communication with a spool chamber, a spool within the spool chamber, a filter chamber within the spool, a filter within the filter chamber dividing the spool chamber into a first filter chamber section in communication with the fluid inlet conduit and a second filter chamber section on the opposite side of the filter from the first filter chamber section, a conduit within the housing for effecting communication between the second filter chamber section and nozzles associated with a flapper coupled to the torque motor, and the first filter chamber section being in communication with a fluid outlet in the valve housing. Also the spool can preferably have a notch therein for effecting direct communication between the fluid inlet and the fluid outlet in addition to the communication which is effected therebetween through the first filter chamber section of the filter chamber.
