Abstract: A method of utilizing 3-level wHCSs created in the first generation to accommodate 3-level conveyer-integrated workgroups in a production facility to make these workgroups work collaboratively as one Task crew-entity is disclosed. By installing the 3-level 3-link-typed TeamProcessors in a 3-level wHCS with Task feedback-control operation-oriented OSs, Task operation programs and Task-operation and management libraries, a 3-level Task operation workgroup-computing Entity-oriented system, can be established to support the Task crew-entity as a whole and provide fine-grained-proactive closed-loop-problem-solving (PS) operations for external users, collaborators and supervisors in a real-time concurrent and secure manner, abiding by the self-improving solution-domain PS-principle.

Abstract: A workgroup-computing-entity-based fail-safe/evolvable hardware core structure is disclosed which includes a 3-hierarchical-level 6-workgroup-Basic-Building-Block (6-wBBB) created to supplant the node-computing-entity-based non-fail-safe/limited evolvable von-Neumann core structure of 3-hierarchical-level 3-node-BBB, (i.e., base-level IO-devices/mid-level main memory/top-level CPU) and all the first-time fail-safe workgroup systems can be subsequently generated in the second period along the workgroup-computing evolutionary timeline. Furthermore, based on the first 6-wBBB evolvable architecture, the workgroup evolutionary processes can go up to 7 generations in creating all the necessary workgroup-computing entity-based hardware core structures, so that all the real-time intelligent workgroup-computing systems can be generated in the third period along the workgroup-computing evolutionary timeline.

A typical hardware component thereof is a unitary chassis of a regular single IBM-PC tower-chassis footprint, designed to house electronics for up to four personal computers, all operating on a single power supply. The unitary chassis provides interconnecting cable for connecting up to four corresponding display terminals and keyboards, which all can be located at other dispersed locations. Each such computer provides a communication/device-sharing card, which may for example be a SCSI-II card providing data rate transfer at 10 Megabytes per second on a single SCSI-II cable. Furthermore, each computer comprises a CPU card and a monitor interface card, such as a VGA card. The invention is especially suited for configuration as a PC-based, multiple-CPU, multi-user workgroup system. Such workgroup systems are especially adapted for collaborative, multimedia and client-server computing for small workgroups.
