  • Patent number: 6672610
Abstract: A binding in particular a step-in binding, for retaining a soft boot on a sliding device, in particular a snowboard, having retaining elements for the boot and having a calf support (8) which can be pivoted into snowboarding and step-in positions and, via a tread element (9) which is connected to it and is within reach of the boot, can be moved into the snowboarding position, in which the calf support (8) is secured against accidentally pivoting out of the snowboarding position. In the snowboarding position, with the tread element (9) subjected to loading, the calf support (8) can be supported, on binding-mounted supporting parts (20), against pivoting on its pivoting bolt (10) into the step-in position. As a result of the tread element (9) being relieved of loading, in order to eliminate the support, the calf support (8) can be displaced, in particular automatically, in relation to the bolt (10).

  • Patent number: 5924717
Abstract: The invention relates to an arrangement for changing the hardness, elasticity or rigidity of a sliding device for snow, which sliding device has a level of convexity which is predetermined during manufacture, having a stiffening device which can be fitted on the sliding device and can be changed, in terms of its action on the sliding device, by a control mechanism. The aim of the invention is, by changing the level of convexity, to be able to adapt the travelling properties of the sliding device to the respective skiing/snowboarding conditions in a particularly effective manner.

  • Patent number: 5746016
Abstract: A ski boot comprising a shell (1), a movable toe cap (2) and a shaft (3), having a recess (5) in the pivoting area of the toe cap (2), which is closed off by a cover (6) of the toe cap (2). The cover (6) grips under the instep area of the shell (1) and is, viewed in the longitudinal cross section of the ski boot, spherically curved with a radius corresponding to the distance from the imaginary pivot axis of the toe cap (2). At the free edge of the cover (6) and also of the recess (5) on the instep side, there are provided raised beads (7, 8) directed against one another with hooklike formed undercuts, which form-lockingly engage one another in the flat position of the sole (4) and the toe cap (2). A tongue (9) of the cover (6) being in the longitudinal center of the ski boot, is associated with a lock (10, 10') guided transversely with respect to the tongue, which lock as a variable stop releases, limits or prevents a clearance for movement of the toe cap (2).

  • Patent number: 5738364
Abstract: A ski binding in which a heel part can be adjusted in the longitudinal direction relative to a guide fixed to a ski and can be actuated by hand. In order to prevent the connecting web of the opening lever disengaging from the locking plate s well as involuntary unlatching of the heel part due to external influences, the invention provides that the connecting web of the opening lever is designed in a U-shaped manner, and that the connecting web, bent in the direction of the upper side of the ski, forms protecting web which terminates flush with the guide fixed to a ski. A restoring lug assists the function of the spring, which acts on the locking piece, the restoring lug being actuable, by way of an edge of the connecting web, by pulling on the opening lever and being formed by being bent out of the locking plate.

  • Patent number: 5690352
Abstract: The invention relates to a snowboard binding having two retaining brackets (6, 106) which are pivotably mounted on a base plate (2) or on parts (5, 105) displaceable longitudinally on the base plate (2), and which, when the binding is performing a retaining function, engage over the front and the rear sole borders of a boot (102), the binding being closed automatically when the boot (102) is inserted. The aim of the invention is to keep the friction between the boot (102) and the binding, and therefore the boot-insertion force to be applied, relatively low and, by means of an advantageous configuration of a locking system (10), to ensure a high securing force.

  • Patent number: 5524366
Abstract: A ski shoe comprising a shell (1) and a movably hinged shaft 2 of the shoe wherein the shell is formed of an elastic material and has a raised shell part (3) around which the shaft 2 of the shoe extends. The raised shell part (3) carries above the heel a vertical slot (4), which is upwardly open. The shaft 2 of the shoe presses when in a forward position onto the raised shell part (3) so that the slot (4) closes. A spacer (7) is movable in the slot (4) by an adjusting device and depending on its position acts against the closing movement of the slot (4) and thus the forward movement of the shaft 2 of the shoe. For adjustment in a slotted hole, the spacer (7) is supported on one arm (9) of a two-arm bent lever (10) and the other arm (13) of which carries a nut (14), which moves on an axially nonmovable spindle (15). The spindle (15) can be rotated, for example, with a key, which causes the bent lever (10) to carry out a pivoting movement and the spacer (7) to move in the slot (4).

  • Patent number: 5413370
Abstract: A ski binding including a front jaw, a heel holder and a connecting element consisting of two partial sections. The front jaw is slidingly movably supported in a ski-fixed guide rail and can be fixed in predetermined positions.
