    Abstract: Multiple communication paths are established for communications between a User Equipment (UE) and a wireless communication network, before switching between those paths is initiated. Signaling that includes an explicit indication that the UE is to switch between the multiple communication paths is transmitted to and received by at least the UE for which the multiple communication paths were established. Responsive to the explicit indication, communications are switched between the communication paths. At least one of the communication paths includes a relay path between the UE and the wireless communication network through another UE. Establishment of the multiple paths in advance of the switching may be useful in enabling fast switching with low latency and/or no traffic loss.

    Abstract: A signal transmission method and an apparatus. The method includes: a location management device receives first SRS resource configuration information from a serving cell and/or a neighboring cell. The location management device sends second SRS resource configuration information to a terminal device, where the second SRS resource configuration information includes third SRS resource configuration information and a downlink reference signal associated with an SRS resource indicated by the third SRS resource configuration information, and the third SRS resource configuration information is a part or all of the first SRS resource configuration information. The location management device configures the SRS resource for the terminal device, so that the SRS resource can be associated with the downlink reference signal. This helps the terminal device obtain information about a transmission beam for sending an SRS, and therefore SRS receiving efficiency of the cell can be improved to some extent.

    Abstract: The power requirements of user equipments (UEs) are expected to increase as their capabilities increase. Some power saving methods have previously been proposed, but are limited by the radio resource control (RRC) protocol and do not address the power consumption associated with having to transition between different RRC states. In some embodiments described herein, there are not different RRC states, but instead a single RRC state. Within that single RRC state, there are different modes of operation, e.g. a default low power operation mode and an enhanced power operation mode. In some embodiments, the UE switches from the default operation mode to the enhanced operation mode on an on-demand basis (e.g. based on the communication capability required by the UE), and then returns back to the default operation mode.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for routing packets in a network, such as a satellite mesh network. For each one of multiple destination devices capable of further handling of the packet for routing to a destination (e.g. ground station) a respective cost or utility associated with forwarding the packet to that destination device is determined. For a given value k, an unsorted subset of k of the destination devices for which said costs are lowest or said utilities are highest is determined, without necessarily fully sorting the plurality of destination devices by cost or utility. The data packet is then forwarded to a selected one of this subset of destination devices. Cost may correspond to distance from destination device (e.g. satellite) to the further destination. Sorting networks and selector networks can be used, for example as implemented in hardware, to generate the unsorted subset.

In this way, resource overheads and information redundancy that are caused when each terminal device in a communication group sends feedback information are effectively avoided.

Network nodes maintain physical location information for nodes, along with routing information, for a limited portion of the network which is local thereto. Based on the routing information, a route through the limited portion of the network to the target node is determined, other nodes are configured (e.g. via source routing) to cause the packet to traverse the determined route, and the packet is forwarded toward the target node.
