Abstract: A motor has an axis of rotation and includes a housing, a first shaft coupled to the housing, and a second shaft coupled to the first shaft. The motor further includes a stator, a rotor coupled to the first shaft, a gearbox, and a bearing assembly coupled to the rotor. The stator includes an outer circumferential surface and an inner circumferential surface. The inner circumferential surface defines a stator bore around the axis of rotation. The rotor includes a first arm and a second arm. The first arm is configured to extend axially along the axis of rotation and within the stator bore, and the second arm is configured to extend radially from the axis of rotation. The first arm and the bearing assembly are positioned within the stator bore, and the second arm is positioned entirely outside of the stator bore.

Abstract: A gearbox for use in a vehicle having a motor assembly includes a housing and an input shaft coupled to the housing. The input shaft is configured to be coupled to a first component of the motor assembly. The gearbox also includes a first gear set positioned within the housing and coupled to the input shaft. An intermediate shaft is positioned within the housing and is coupled to the first gear set. The gearbox further includes a second gear set positioned within the housing and coupled to the intermediate shaft and an output shaft coupled to the second gear set and to the housing. The output shaft is configured to be coupled to a second component of the motor assembly.

Abstract: A right angle gearbox is described that includes an enclosure, an input member, an output member, and an assembly. The enclosure has dimensions such that the gearbox is operable as a drop in replacement for a gearbox that includes a worm gear set. The input member extends from the enclosure and includes a first portion of a helical gear set housed within the enclosure. The output member extends from the enclosure and includes a second portion of a hypoid gear set housed within the enclosure. The output member is substantially orthogonal to the input member. The assembly includes a second portion of the helical gear set and a first portion of the hypoid gear set mechanically coupled to one another.

Abstract: A gear drive casing apparatus is disclosed for enclosing a gear drive used in a hygienic and sanitary environment. The gear drive casing apparatus includes a member having an external contoured surface, the member enclosing the gear drive. A further member has a further external contoured surface, the surface and the further surface cooperating with each other to define therebetween a smooth uninterrupted intersection such that the contoured surfaces and the intersection therebetween are easily cleaned. The surfaces and intersection present a self-draining configuration which inhibits the entrapment therein of any deleterious materials that would support the growth of bacteria, fungi, mold and other microorganisms.
