  • Publication number: 20030206419
Abstract: In order to improve visibility and hence to reduce the risk of accidents, a rope, for example a wire rope, is equipped with a number of luminous elements. A luminous element may in this case assume the position of a wire or of a braid, may be integrated in an insert, or may be guided in the spaces between wires or braids and preferably within the theoretical rope circumference. The luminous element may also itself be composed of luminous elements which are twisted together, are twisted or are laid. For strain relief, the luminous elements may be equipped with a reinforcement in the form of a strand, or with a mesh. The luminous element is intended to be connected to a source. In the state when it is fed, the luminous element is actively luminous. Owing to the improved visibility, rope lights may be used not only for a safety function but also for an aesthetic appearance.

  • Publication number: 20030153210
Abstract: The plug connector has a first connector element (2) and a second connector element (3), which are connected to one another by means of a coupling member (26). The two connector elements (2, 3) form an outer conductor (9) and an inner conductor (10). A contact element (16) which is in the form of a cup spring and exerts an axial force on the connector elements (2, 3). in order to compensate for tolerances is arranged between the two outer conductor parts (11, 12). The contact element (16) forms a closed circular contact surface (A, B) with the respective outer conductor parts (11, 12). The plug connector can be produced at low cost and has low RF characteristics, in particular good passive intermodulation and RF emission.

  • Patent number: 6544062
Abstract: An array of coaxial cable connectors includes a generally cylindrical-shaped first female member with an inner surface having at least one set of left-hand threads adapted to engage complementary threads on a first male port. A generally cylindrical-shaped second female member has an inner surface including at least one set of right-hand threads adapted to engage complementary threads on a second male port. A mounting member allows for rotation of each of the first and second female members about their respective longitudinal axes while maintaining a portion of the outer surface of the first female member (preferably configured as a gear) in contact with a portion of the outer surface of the second female member (preferably configured as a complementary gear). In operation, rotation of the first female member about its longitudinal axis results in a corresponding rotation of the second female member about its longitudinal axis.

  • Patent number: 6491444
Abstract: A method fixes an optical fiber (15) in a connector (10) for an optical plug-in connection. The connector (10) includes a location body (11) having a bore hole (12) to receive the optical fiber (15). In accordance with the method, the optical fiber (15) is inserted into the bore hole (12) of the location body (11) and is fixed therein by bonding with an adhesive (19). Easy and stable bonding is achieved by using a solid chemically reactive adhesive (19) which is reacted when brought into a liquid state and which enables a temperature-resistant connection.

  • Patent number: 6464403
Abstract: The invention relates to an optical connector for detachably connecting a circuit board to a backplane. The inventive connector comprises at least one plug (10A) and at least one socket (10B) for receiving the plug (10A), whereby the socket (10B) comprises an outer housing (12) and an inner housing (13). Said inner housing (13) is mounted in the outer housing (12) such that it can be displaced in the direction of plug insertion, and a locking means (25,26) prevents the inner housing from being displaced inside the outer housing (12). In addition, unlocking means (20) are assigned to the plug (10A) which unlock the first locking means (25,26) when the plug (10A) is completely inserted into the socket (10B). Second locking means (20,21,23,24) are assigned to the plug (10A) which interlock said plug (10A) and socket (10B) when the plug (10A) is completely inserted. The aim of the invention is to obtain a compact construction and to increase the versatility of the plug system.

  • Patent number: 6457873
Abstract: The present invention relates to a positioning system for automatically positioning and attaching at least one optical fiber inserted into said positioning system along a predetermined optical axis. This positioning system comprises a base member with a flat upper surface and a V-shaped reception channel which is parallel to the upper surface and is formed therein for receiving at least one optical fiber. This system also includes a spring-effect retaining member which is mounted on the upper surface of the base member for maintaining the at least one optical fiber inserted into the reception channel. This invention provides for a simple structure, as well as, for a precise and mechanically resistant coupling since the retaining member comprises a membrane which is parallel to the upper surface of the base member, which is mounted above the reception channel and which can be resiliently diverted in a direction perpendicular to the upper surface of said base member.

  • Patent number: 6137352
Abstract: The fine protection circuit arrangement is to reduce the remaining residual impulses on gas tube charge eliminators. This is to be achieved by means of a cascading of a gas tube charge eliminator or a .lambda./4 shorting stub with a fine protection circuit. The fine protection circuit connected to the gas tube circuit eliminator or .lambda./4 shorting stub reduces the relatively high residual voltage at the output of the gas tube charge eliminator or .lambda./4 shorting stub to a minimal value.

  • Patent number: 6019640
Abstract: The housing bore (5) is substantially widened in the shape of a step at its edge and the outside diameter (A) of a support plate is widened correspondingly. The contact surface (8) of the housing (2) is reduced in accordance with the step-shaped widened part (7) to form comparatively narrow annular surfaces. An advantage of this is that passive intermodulation can essentially be prevented by the reduction of the contact surface.

  • Patent number: 5978199
Abstract: An EMP-eliminator is to be created which is simultaneously applicable for multiple frequency bands and highest frequencies and at the same time allows transmission of AC/DC supply voltages. For this purpose a casing (20) set in an outer line (10) is provided as well as a line (24) connected in an electrically conductive manner to an inner line of a coaxial line (30). The line (24) is connected in an electrically conductive manner with the equipment casing (20) or its face side via a gas filled overvoltage suppressor (28). The gas eliminator (28) is set into a threaded cover and thus can be exchanged. Between the equipment casing (20) and the line (24) several bushes (25,26) connected electrically to the line are provided. The length of the line (24) corresponds to the .lambda./4 length of the lowest transmitted frequency band. Several serially connected resonant cavities result which are matched in their length to different midband frequencies.

  • Patent number: 5790762
Abstract: An adhesive is to be provided of which one component can be stored virtually with exclusion of air, in anaerobicform, for a prolonged period, and can thus be introduced into the sleeve of an optical connector in a production operation, and the second component of which can be introduced into the first component with the fiber at the assembly site. This is achieved by an adhesive consisting of at least two components, in which the reaction is initiated by interface contact of the two components. For this purpose the two components each comprise unsaturated compounds which are dissolved in mono- and/or polyfunctional acrylates.
