Abstract: The invention concerns reinforcement additives consisting of oligomeric and/or polymeric sulfur-containing organoorganooxysilanes, perhaps other unsaturated hydrocarbon-containing organoorganooxysilanes and reinforcing semiactive, active, and/or highly active carbon blacks, common in rubber, their production, and the use of the additives in perhaps silicatically filled vulcanizable rubber mixtures and compositions and in plastic mixtures or in carbon black dispersions.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the preparation of a gel material which is not free-flowing, is reversibly transparent as a function of temperature and comprises nonionic and/or nonionically acting surfactants as clouding components. The preparation of the gel material can be integrated into the customary production process for laminated glazing in a simple manner and produces frost-stable glazing which can be employed universally indoors and outdoors. When applied, the strength of the system is so high that it is no longer free-flowing at all and bulging of the laminated pane and running-out are therefore no longer possible.

Abstract: A process for the preparation of 5-chloro-2-pentanone starting from a ketal of a levulinic ester, followed by hydrogenation, and then reaction with hydrochloric acid. The process involves first purifying the ketal of the levulinic ester by distillation, making the hydrogenation catalysts for the ketal alkaline, and reacting the 3-(2-methyl-1,3-dioxolan-2-yl)propan-1-ol formed in this hydrogenation with hydrochloric acid to obtain 5-chloro-2-pentanone.
Abstract: Molding compounds based on polyphenylene ethers, which are distinguished by reduced combustibility and good processing properties. The molding masses contain (A) 100 parts by weight polyphenylene ether, (B) 1 to 40 parts by weight of a dibenzyl toluene and, relative to the total weight of the molding compound, (C) 0 to 30% reinforcing material, and (D) 0 to 5% additives. The molding compounds are used for the production of technical articles such as pipes, plates and housings.
