  • Patent number: 9854544
Abstract: Power spectral density in an aeronautical satellite communication system is controlled through the use of adaptive inroute selection and spreading. Once a communication session has been established between the aircraft and the satellite, environmental conditions and aircraft conditions are monitored to detect events capable of affecting transmit/receive properties during the communication session. A maximum allowable transmission output is determined based, at least in part, on governmental regulations and the conditions being monitored. One or more transmit parameters are adjusted during the time interval in order to maintain transmission output power of the aircraft terminal below the maximum allowable transmission output power.

  • Publication number: 20170346507
Abstract: Signals are received that include a channel band and an adjacent band. The channel band is demodulated to obtain recovered symbols. Cross-correlation between the recovered symbols and the adjacent band is estimated. Adjacent channel interference is estimated, using the estimated cross-correlation of the recovered symbols and the adjacent band. Upon the estimated adjacent channel interference meeting a condition, a back-off command is sent to a transmitter power amplifier.

  • Patent number: 9832131
Abstract: Approaches for managing characteristics for inbound data communications between a first network site and a remote network site of a WAN are provided. The inbound communications are received by the first network site via a series of links of the WAN. Protocol overhead factors are determined based on overhead associated with network protocols applied to the data communications over the links. Link throughput limits are determined for the inbound data communications, wherein the throughput limits are determined based on the protocol overhead factors. The throughput limits are transmitted to the second network site for transmission of the inbound data communications from the second network site. The inbound data communications are received by a first device of the first network site via the first link, wherein the first link is between the first device and a second device serving as an exit point from a public portion of the WAN.

  • Patent number: 9832169
Abstract: An approach for providing secure communication services is disclosed. A secure data tunnel from a source node to a destination node is established via a plurality of secure segments across a data communications network. A data path is established via the secure data tunnel, where the data path supports a performance enhancing mechanism that improves performance of data communications over the data path. The performance enhancing mechanism multiplexes data packet flows from the source node for transmission over the data path, and performs one or more of connection startup latency reduction, acknowledgment message spoofing, window sizing adjustment, compression and selective retransmission.

  • Patent number: 9832276
Abstract: An approach for selective dynamic disabling of transport layer handshake spoofing is provided. A local proxy node of a communications network receives request message from a respective local host for establishing a network connection with a remote host. A destination address for the network connection is determined. It is determined whether the destination address is included in a handshake spoofing bypass list. If it is determined that the destination address is included in the spoofing bypass list, a corresponding un-spoofed connection request message is transmitted to a remote proxy node associated with the remote host, in accordance with a respective handshaking protocol for the connection establishment. If it is determined that the destination address is not included in the spoofing bypass list, a corresponding spoofed connection request message is transmitted to the remote proxy node, in accordance with a respective handshake spoofing protocol for the connection establishment.

  • Publication number: 20170339064
Abstract: Dynamic history multistream long range compression (DHC) techniques are described for efficiently compressing multiple, prioritized data streams received over a channel. A history buffer is associated with each received stream and a DHC compressor dynamically allocates fixed sized history sections to and from each history buffer. In implementations, the DHC compressor makes stream history size adjustments prior to compressing a block of data and sends information identifying the change in history size to a DHC decompressor. The DHC decompressor sends signaling information to the DHC compressor that is used to ensure that the DHC decompressor can operate with a fixed amount of total history memory.

Abstract: A satellite communication system, a method and a system are provided. In one aspect of the invention, an outdoor unit power source is connected to a switch of a satellite modem of an indoor unit. When the satellite modem receives a first signal from a wireless device, a first switch control signal is sent to the switch to open a connection between the outdoor unit power source and an inter-facility link connected to an antenna of an outdoor unit, thereby preventing power from flowing through the inter-facility link. When the satellite modem receives a second signal from the wireless device, a second switch control signal is sent to the switch to close a connection between the outdoor unit power source and the inter-facility link, thereby causing the power to flow through the inter-facility link. Other wirelessly received signals may cause various control signals to be sent via the inter-facility link.
