    Abstract: A multiple access scheme is provided. A first communications terminal encodes a first data stream using a forward error correction (FEC) code, and scrambles the encoded first data stream based on a first scrambling signature. A second communications terminal encodes a second data stream using the FEC code, and scrambles the encoded second data stream based on a second scrambling signature. The first scrambling signature and the second scrambling signature are used, respectively, by the first terminal and the second terminal to distinguish the first encoded data stream from the second encoded data stream as respectively originating from the first terminal and the second terminal in a multiple access scheme, whereby the first encoded data stream and the second encoded data stream simultaneously share a wireless communications channel. The FEC code is a low density parity check (LDPC) code configured with a data node degree of two or three.

    Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed and include a method that includes adding a training symbol prefix to an OFDM symbol frame, the prefix including a plurality of training symbols, each including N sub-symbol fields. N/2 of the sub-symbol fields are zero valued, and N/2 of the sub-symbol fields carry corresponding symbols of a N/2 sub-symbol pseudo random training symbol. A first half of the pseudo random training symbol is symmetrical to a second half of the pseudo random training symbol. An OFDM N-sub-carrier transmission carries the prefix as signal power on a first N/2 of its N sub-carriers and suppresses signal power on a second N/2 of the sub-carriers. The first N/2 and second N/2 sub-carriers alternate in the frequency domain.

    Abstract: Approaches for ground-based beamforming for a very high throughput wireless communications system employing an airborne platform that generates a beam pattern via a multi-element antenna are provided. A beamformer includes a number of beamforming processors based on a frequency reuse scheme of the communications system. Each beamforming processor processes only the beam signals that are associated with a respective one of the frequencies of the reuse scheme, and thereby generates a component element signal for each of the elements of the array antenna that is associated with the respective frequency of that processor. Each beamforming processor applies a matrix of complex weights that is configured such that a composition of the component element signals for each antenna element facilitates the transmission of the element signals by the airborne platform to produce the beam pattern.

The control message is received as part of configuration of network services for the UT. Communications channels are provided to the UT for network services. The communications channels are configured based on share parameters defining a share of network resources allocated to the service provider to which the determined SP(ID) corresponds.

    Abstract: An embodiment of the present invention is a system to maximize efficiency as a mobile terminal receives data signals transmitted through multiple satellite spot beams. The multiple spot beams can be broadcast via a single satellite or multiple satellites. As a mobile terminal travels throughout a region, the system determines which spot beam would delivers data in the most efficient manner possible. This system takes into account multiple factors, including but not limited to velocity of the mobile terminal, traffic within a spot beam, business affiliations, etc. Once the system takes into account the various factors, an embodiment of the present invention generates a relative weighted factor that is subsequently associated with various available spot beams. Based on rankings of the weighted factors associated with each spot beam, the system may choose to receive data from a different spot beam.

A SegmentID of the received content segment is determined as not matching that of cached content segments. The NewVideoFlag is set to indicate that the segments from the streaming data session file are currently being cached. A global cVideoFileID is generated identifying the streaming session data file being cached. The content segment is cached, and cache bookkeeping is updated to associate the segment with the SegmentID and the cVideoFileID. The first response message is provided to the client device.

The second compressor can compress the literal segment and can output a compressed data block including the match descriptor and a compressed string of data based on the compressed literal segment.
