Abstract: A portable battery pack and portable electronic device communicate by pulsing (turning on/off) their respective battery chargers causing variations in a magnetic field between the battery pack and portable electronic device that can be used to transmit and receive short messages through their respective coils using a magnetic communication protocol. Data or messages can be transferred between portable battery pack and portable electronic device when the portable battery pack and portable electronic device are in a mated configuration. The magnetic communication protocol allows for bi-directional communication of various battery status indicators and other data from the portable battery pack to the portable electronic device and vice-versa.

Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for creating scaled images with super resolution using neighborhood patches of pixels to provide higher resolution than traditional interpolation techniques. Also disclosed are techniques for creating super field-of-view (FOV) images of a scene created from previously captured and stored images of the scene that are stitched together with a current image of the scene, to generate an image of the scene that extends beyond the fixed FOV of the camera.

Abstract: A system and a method are disclosed for selectively activating access by an application to a camera. In an embodiment, a physical object provider receives a request, from an application installed on a mobile device of a user, for a physical object to be delivered to an address corresponding to the user, wherein access by the application to a camera of the mobile device is de-activated. Responsive to receiving the request, the physical object is caused to be delivered to the address. The physical object provider receives a notification that the physical object has been delivered to the address, and transmits an instruction to the application to activate access by the application to the camera. The physical object provider receives, from the application, an image captured by the camera, and publishes the image to an additional user.
Abstract: Systems, methods, devices and non-transitory, computer-readable storage mediums are disclosed for a wearable multimedia device and cloud computing platform with an application ecosystem for processing multimedia data captured by the wearable multimedia device. In an embodiment, a method comprises: receiving, by one or more processors of a cloud computing platform, context data from a wearable multimedia device, the wearable multimedia device including at least one data capture device for capturing the context data; creating a data processing pipeline with one or more applications based on one or more characteristics of the context data and a user request; processing the context data through the data processing pipeline; and sending output of the data processing pipeline to the wearable multimedia device or other device for presentation of the output.

Abstract: Provided are wearable lights or lights that can be attached to accessories when carrying out activities in low-light or no-light conditions. The wearable lights incorporate a portion of non-magnetic material with an internal chamber with a low friction internal surface that is surrounded by a copper coil. A magnet is passed through the internal chamber, allowing the copper coil to break the magnetic fields of the magnet, which creates a burst of electrical current. The current is used to emit light through LED's. Movement of the wearer/user generates the movement of the magnet in the internal chamber, and repelling magnets at the top and bottom of the internal chamber assist the magnet in moving back and forth through the chamber. The inventive device can be adapted for use in many sporting and other applications, such as in running shoes, running belts, rucksacks and as stand-alone wearable lights.
