Patent number: 11859928Abstract: A modular system for preventing the unauthorized use of a firearm is provided. The system includes a safety module that is configured to attach to a firearm using a standard rail mount found on most firearms. The safety module includes a trigger bar that is configured to extend from the safety module to behind or through the side of the trigger of the firearm. The safety module further includes a locking mechanism that, in a first state, prevents the trigger bar from moving rearward and thereby also prevents the trigger from being pulled. The locking mechanism further includes a second state where the trigger bar is allowed to move with the trigger thereby allowing the trigger to be pulled.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 2020Date of Patent: January 2, 2024Assignee: Humanistic Robotics, Inc.Inventor: Joshua K. Patent number: 9720419Abstract: An open architecture control system is provided that may be used for remote and semi-autonomous operation of commercial off the shelf (COTS) and custom robotic systems, platforms, and vehicles to enable safer neutralization of explosive hazards and other services. In order to effectively deal with rapidly evolving threats and highly variable operational environments, the control system is built using an open architecture and includes a high level of interoperability. The control system interfaces with a large range of robotic systems and vehicles, autonomy software packages, perception systems, and manipulation peripherals to enable prosecution of complex missions effectively. Because the control system is open and does not constrain the end user to a single robotics system, mobile platform, or peripheral hardware and software, the control system may be used to assist with a multitude of missions beyond explosive hazard detection and clearance.Type: GrantFiled: September 7, 2015Date of Patent: August 1, 2017Assignee: Humanistic Robotics, Inc.Inventors: Trevor O'Neill, Samuel Reeves, Joshua Koplin, Anthony Calabro, Nathan Bivans, Erik de Brun, Scott Poff, Richard Derman

Patent number: 8397612Abstract: In an implementation, a roller system is provided. The roller system includes a modular frame. The frame includes a plurality of weight component attachment points. Each weight component attachment point is adapted to receive one or more weight components such that a weight of the frame and location of a center of gravity of the frame is adjusted by the addition of one or more weight components to each of the plurality of weight component attachment points. The frame further includes at least one arm assembly adapted to connect to the frame, and to apply force to a surface, wherein the force applied to the surface is proportional to the weight of the frame and the location of the center of gravity of the frame.Type: GrantFiled: January 27, 2010Date of Patent: March 19, 2013Assignee: Humanistic Robotics, Inc.Inventors: Joshua Koplin, Samuel Reeves, Stephen Ahnert, Erik de Brun, Scott Poff, Daniele Salvatore Tedesco

Patent number: 7685917Abstract: A method and an apparatus for clearing land mines includes a mine detonator, a unmanned propulsion device and a rake member-electromagnet combination. The mine detonator includes a roller assembly, which is connected to and propelled by a prime mover of the unmanned propulsion unit. The mine detonator additionally may include a segmented column of weights that function to exert ground pressure to detonate hidden land mines. The rake member-electromagnet combination includes a rake member to turn up soil as the device advances in a minefield, and a magnetic member to pick up surface or sub-surface metal on the minefield.Type: GrantFiled: April 21, 2006Date of Patent: March 30, 2010Assignee: Humanistic Robotics, Inc.Inventors: Samuel Jesse Reeves, Joshua Koch Koplin
