  • Patent number: 7425801
Abstract: Driving voltages of an LED of each color are stored in applied voltage storage register 11, 12 or 13, and the LED of each color is driven with independent driving voltage, whereby current consumption is reduced. Further, data in applied voltage storage registers 11, 12 and 13 is made rewritable via storage value setting bus 14, and when there are fluctuations in minimum emission voltage in actually mounted LEDs due to individual differences, voltages to store in the applied voltage storage registers 11, 12 and 13 can be changed as appropriate corresponding to the fluctuations.

  • Patent number: 7161571
Abstract: A programmable controller having three well-known components used in display controls but put under the control of a programmable ‘sub-field ’ timing generator is disclosed. The three well-known components include a Phase Lock Loop (PLL) unit, a Pixel Pipe Line (PPL) unit and an embedded frame buffer. Even though these are well known and understood components, each one is implemented to support the field and sub-field concepts of field sequential color (FSC) as well as non-FSC TFT display devices. The programmable controller also includes some new components that are unique to FSC displays. These new components include a color light sequencer to control the LED controls (or whatever color light source used) and programmable Source and Gate driver controls to accommodate the extremely wide diversification between different display panels.

  • Patent number: 7123228
Abstract: A voltage with a predetermined pattern is applied to liquid crystals to drive the liquid crystals during a unit drive period of the liquid crystals and an application pattern according to the gradation data is set taking into account a value obtained by integrating the amount of transmitted light of liquid crystals at various points in time when each application pattern is applied to the liquid crystals. This allows a fine gradation display even if the liquid crystals are driven by only ON/OFF of a maximum rated voltage. As a result, it is possible to drive the liquid crystals at high speed and produce a multi-gradation display.
