  • Patent number: 4580753
Abstract: A support bracket for a venetian blind headrail which is in the form of an open sided box structure including a top (14), bottom (10) and a side (16) and/or rear wall (12) and a separate front wall (18, 20) which is pivotal about a vertical axis with respect to the top and bottom walls, and which includes top and bottom flanges (22). This pivoting is effected by a pivotal connection including a guide aperture (30) formed preferably in the top and bottom flanges, the aperture providing two guide surfaces (32, 34) angled with respect to one another, a hinge element (28) in the top and bottom walls engaging in each aperture, whereby the front wall can be pivoted between an open position and a closed position transverse to the open position. A latch (38, 40) is provided on the top and bottom flanges and on the top and bottom walls, the latch being spaced from the pivotal connection and prevents pivoting of the front wall away from the closed position.

  • Patent number: 4545100
Abstract: A method and apparatus for manufacturing venetian blinds in which at least two ladder tapes, preferably with rungs each consisting of at least two cross cords, are provided, of a sufficient length for a large number of venetian blinds. The slats are inserted between the cross cords of the ladder tapes to form a substantially continuous mat of slatted ladder tape. The mat is then stored, for example, on a roll or in a container, and is subsequently cut off into individual lengths, each length being suitable for one blind.

  • Patent number: 4538330
Abstract: Precut and punched fully formed slats for a venetian blind are mounted upside down in a stack on a slat magazine cradle disposed below the assembly station of a venetian blind assembly apparatus, and are picked up, one at a time, by a suction cup and fed in between two endless feed belts which pass around a roller so that the slats are fed the correct way up into the assembly station.

  • Patent number: 4529025
Abstract: A vane pocket cover for taking up the bottom end of a vane of a vertical blind, preferably including an additional weight, whereby the cover has protruding parts near the front and rear wall centers offset with respect to each other, for simple connection of vane interconnecting means. The cover is easily engageable by being pushed over a folded vane bottom end that could enclose a weight whereby the vane material stretches through the cover and out through a slit. The cover versions are especially designed for do-it-yourself purposes and concentrate on ease of assembling and vane length adjustment.

  • Patent number: 4516300
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for assembling the slats of a venetian blind in which slats are fed in turn into the venetian blind ladders and are raised to a first position sequentially to form, at that first position, a stack of assembled slats. The length of stroke of the lifting mechanism, preferably a linear motor, is restrained by an abutment which is removed as the last slat of a stack is being lifted, so that the whole stack is then lifted to a higher position at which it is retained and the ladders are moved past the slat feed point so that no slats are inserted therein. The next stack of slats is then formed at the first position and before it is completed, the ladder means are cut between the first and second positions.

  • Patent number: 4514886
Abstract: A unit for positioning a venetian blind ladder tape and for guiding the slats of a blind between individual rungs of a rung pair of a ladder tape, said unit comprising two body portions, a guiding member on each body portion, each guiding member locating, for movement longitudinally of the guiding member, one of the side tapes of the ladder tape and permitting the rungs to extend to the other side tape, the body portions being resiliently urged apart by a spring to tension the rungs. Each body portion carries a slat guide element which is positioned to feed slat material between the rungs of a pair and a resiliently retractable abutment plate is located adjacent each slat guide element, so as to engage the rung of a pair nearer thereto. The ladder tape is fed intermittently forward and is urged rearwardly between intermittent advances by spring-urged parts, so that the nearer rung of a pair is engaged against the abutment.

  • Patent number: 4475580
Abstract: A mechanism for the roller of a roller blind, in which a housing has rotatably mounted therein a pulley over which a ball cord, passes, with two pieces of cord hanging down, one from each side of the pulley. The balls of the ball cord can be engaged in one of two U-shaped slots, to lock the cord. The U-shaped slots are each formed in a locking element which is designed as a component which can be fastened to the housing in either of two different positions, the locking part being arranged on the locking element in such a way that, in one or other of the two different positions, it always interacts with one or the other of the pieces of cord hanging down.

  • Patent number: 4462452
Abstract: An apparatus for regulating the radiation of light and/or heat by the use of slats which are suitable for placing under a roof constructions, such as a greenhouse roof, in which the slats 140 are supported at or adjacent each end by a pair of laterally spaced apart connecting cords 136,137. These cords form the sole suspension for the slats and are mounted, at their upper ends, on a combined tilting and carrier means 102,107,108,115. Drive 128 is provided for the combined carrier and tilting means so that the latter impart a movement from which the tilting movement of the suspended slats is directly derived. It is also possible for the slats to be drawn back by movement of runners 134,135 on the combined carrier and tilting means.

  • Patent number: 4441282
Abstract: A suspended ceiling, and components therefor, are described in which a carrying structure, for example in the form of carriers arranged in a grid, have depending therefrom a number of suspension units and a slat assembly, which may have decoratively disposed slats thereon, is mounted on each suspension unit. The arrangement is such that the slat assemblies are capable of at least limited rotation between a number of different positions, the slat assemblies being restrained in each position so that each slat assembly may have its orientation relative to its neighboring slat assemblies varied. This arrangement enables one to produce a very different visual effect simply by rotating certain of the slat assemblies relative to their neighbors. The specification discloses a number of different forms of slat assembly.

  • Patent number: 4420862
Abstract: Apparatus for making slats for a slatted blind, in which the slat material is fed by a first drive to form a loop from which it is fed on to a discharge table at which the strip material is cut into slats and the holes are punched. The loop causes an advancing member to be pushed back against the action of a spring and this spring then, upon receipt of a signal, urges the advancing member, and thus the loop, into the discharge station for further operations to be carried out.
