Abstract: A pick-resistant lock having a housing and a keyway cylinder rotatably mounted within the housing includes a plurality of tumblers and a lock bar associated with the cylinder to render picking of the lock difficult by conventional techniques. The housing has a cylinder-accepting bore provided with a pair of locking grooves arranged so as to face one another. The tumblers and lock bar are movable into and out of locking relationship with a corresponding one of the locking grooves and along parallel paths when the cylinder is positioned in a lock mode position. Springs mounted within the cylinder urge the lock bar and tumblers against one another and toward positions out of the locking grooves while maintaining the lock bar in a locked relationship within its corresponding locking groove so that the cylinder is prevented from rotating.

Abstract: A key-manipulatable switch for a motor vehicle ignition system having a housing and a cylinder mounted within the housing for rotational and axial movement with respect thereto includes cooperating components which prevent the rotation of the cylinder counterclockwise from a first rotational position to a second rotational position unless the cylinder is in a preselected axial position with respect to the housing while permitting unrestricted clockwise rotation of the cylinder to any of several rotational positions. In one embodiment, the cylinder includes a spring-biased stop member which cooperates with a lug-like projection defined by the housing.

Abstract: A steering lock assembly and method for utilization in a vehicle having a transmission control member mounted for movement between a PARK mode position and a non-PARK mode position utilizes a key-operable switch including a housing mountable in a generally stationary condition within the vehicle and a keyway cylinder mounted within the housing for rotational movement relative thereto between positions corresponding to LOCK and non-LOCK modes of the switch. The lock assembly includes a locking mechanism associated with the switch for locking the steering arrangement of the vehicle when and only when the keyway cylinder is positioned in the LOCK mode position, and a camming arrangement is mounted adjacent the keyway cylinder and connectable to the transmission control member for movement therewith.
