Abstract: A method of joining two flexible webs comprises bringing the webs into overlapping relationship, cutting the overlapped webs, removing a part of one or both webs from the region of the cut, and applying a length of adhesive material to marginal portions of the webs adjacent the cut.The webs may be held stationary while being joined. The cutting and joining are preferably effected simultaneously. The webs may be brought into register before cutting and joining. Adhesive material may be applied to both sides of the webs. Joining may be initiated manually or automatically in response to the speed or diameter of an expiring reel.
